  1. muses stereotypes... true. But in my view, used like curtains behind which we get a glimpse of a slightly different view. Of course, I read into things. As a ten minute wonder myself - I've learned to never say it's a ten minute poem. The people who take longer feel as if one is bragging or implying something about their being slower... Considers Art as a race and chuckles. I'm sure once Wyvern gets back from his latest scheme, he'll duck in here. In the meantime, I notice Melba has the latest issue of Dragon's Digest, whose lead article speaks on how to use different stones to help digest different snacks.
  2. I've been filled with rage So I made myself gentle. I've been filled with greed So I learned to give it all away. I've been filled with lusts So I learned to feel hearts. I've been filled with pain So I learned to heal others. I've been filled with Self So I chose to be Other.
  3. laughs it's funny to me - I've thought that out for years, so to me it reads as contrived. I liked Vince's better.
  4. Wow, good poem! It's a balance, giving everything but keeping yourself. The best times, in my experience, are with a loved friend. You both give in trust 100% - and end up with exponential results.
  5. nice...
  6. This is wonderful fun. I can just picture the blue-eyed demoness child Rune and the Neato Necro Gnomie Girl Minta running up and down the halls (weaving in and out of legs like trees) singing this. Thanks for the mind picture and the poem.
  7. Yay! I like this one. 10-11 years... Learn from the past. Plan for the future. Live in the moment.
  8. Oh wonderful continuation (and confrontation). You've opened up all sorts of possibilities for the future. bites popcorn instead of his nails, waiting for more with a pretense of cool.
  9. Nods Yeah. For the first 40 years of life, I took this kind of feeling seriously and let it overwhelm me. Now I just get up whether I have the energy, ignore the feeling, and do what I would choose if I felt better...
  10. Oh! That is SO true for so many people! The trap of which to be aware Consuming another on the altar of self...
  11. I hear music in this lament... In the last stanza, perhap "My sorrow is" or "My sorrow's"?
  12. Maybe you're inside looking out Through a filmy filter of Need Overwhelming at first response Heart hot and willing to bleed Love often slips up unaware When you're looking at some other You think you need a thundering storm Sometimes it's a gentle cover If you hold your hand out flat Water flees and flows away If you clench into a fist Water cannot stay. Sometimes love is like that.
  13. I hear music as I read this. suggested last line, You're better off than Eddie White. It's pieces like this which make me wish I had more time to spend at the Pen reading... -Peredhil
  14. What a great piece on the confusion of a wounded Self. Hugs Welcome to the Pen - sit back, enjoy, and - I give you permission to let yourself heal... -Peredhil
  15. As Peredhil stands applauding, Elladan quietly points Salinye to a List on the Walls of the Pen. "It's a bit out of date, I think," says Elladan, "but since Dad used to be the Elder of Lists, I don't want him to find out." "Bravo!" shouts Peredhil, "Bravo!"
  16. Grand Idea. I think some of the newer members don't know just how bad some of the older members were when the older member's started... I kinda miss the insanity of the Weenie Awards, where anything went as long as it built somehow off a previous post... I look forward to seeing how you implement this.
  17. snicker...
  18. But isn't it stereotypical to apply the society's characteristics you know, or know of, to all societies? Good job.
  19. Nice. I wish I *could* hear the music. I'm hearing guitar in my mind.
  20. She stood alone in the crowd Watching him watch her And wondered what lay behind his burning gaze. He hesitated so very long She'd've spoken but she was full of fear Couldn't handle the rejection: just one of those days. They parted again into their worlds Same planet is what they share Fear of pain brings loss of joy: Life is such a maze.
  21. If only reality were as easy as fantasy loving... You don't tend to write long poems, but you do tend to write poems to which I can relate or at least understand.
  22. You realize of course, only the intelligent can suffer all the nuances of rainbow pain. Without the ability to perceive, there is a binary state - pain or no pain. When you're smart, you can be truly broken in so many ways - some of which are done inadvertantly by the unwitting who can't even see or understand why you've been hurt (because they wouldn't be). Peredhil, realizing he's in one of his rare curmudgeon moods, falls silent. Hugs instead
  23. If I could have one supernatural ability... It would be to be able to have at will the body and/or the abilities and/or the equipment and/or the powers of any character or characters who has appeared in a comic book and to have whatever is taken from said character(s) would work. ~~~ Take your life in your own hands and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame. ~ Erica Jong We have forty million reasons for failure, but not a single excuse. ~ Rudyard Kipling They always say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. ~ Andy Warhol We must exchange the philosophy of excuse for the philosophy of responsibility. ~ Barbara Jordan
  24. I think I like this incarnation best of those I've seen. I would quote some of the most striking lines, but I'd have to cut and paste much of the poem. I think you're getting deeper as a poet.
  25. Begins laughing Heh, I didn't know anyone knew I wrote something OTHER than poems. I was surprised to see some of my works from the past, and pleased people still find them meaningful. puts on his Almost Dragonic brand running shoes to go chase his Muse and stands a while trying to figure out how to use the rocket propulsion feature. With a sudden enlightenment, he flicks his zippo and lights the short fuse sticking from the back of each shoe...
