  1. Heh, my favorite was always the GrowCube. GrowRPG doesn't have enough components, so I got it fast enough that I didn't everything that could go wrong if you did it in the wrong order. GrowCube wasn't too long, but you had to work at it enough to see the logic in the order.
  2. Ah, why not... here are a few I just remembered were in a file someone left on my computer. “I’m short a tortoise.” “I need that chair; my sheep is stuck on the roof.” Funny part is I don't even remember the context for the first one... and I'm pretty sure I'm the one who said that...

  5. I have the first 21 pages of LLTST seperately in html form, so I guess I could zip them up and e-mail them to whoever wants them. Or if you want me to send it another way I'm open to suggestions.
  6. I only have page 1 to 21 of "Let's learn to spell terra!" because James deleted them before I got to the end, but those are the best ones. I don't have any of the other topics... and I'm not sure James does either. *sigh* I should have closed it when I had the chance.
  7. Oh my... look who it is. Our favorite Village Idiot!
  8. Gwai's birthday, today? Man, already one year since I started putting off giving you a present until mid-August. May the cabbages wiggle in lively fashion for you today! And a simple happy birthday to purple_shadows... since I do not know him/her quite as well. Sam.
  9. I'm off topic here, but I have to say this. Wren, some people say boys are easier to raise than girls, so you could consider yourself lucky. But then again my personnal opinion is that the end result can never be as good with boys. I'm really half-serious when I say that... And I really have no good suggestions for names, but I personnally would look at etymology when you choose... fun stuff to find out what your name means.
  10. Actually, "Leur voix" means each person (or bird in this case) has one voice, and "Leurs voix" means each has several. Think of "Leur" and "Leurs" as "Son/Sa" and "Ses" applied to many people. If you transpose the situation to one bird in this case, the correct phrasing is "Sa voix arrivait" so the correct form with several birds is "Leur voix arrivaient." In any case the use of "Leur(s)" means the verb is plural. I feel useful.
  11. I was under the impression that the Hundred Years War had no definite length (or maybe we simply don't know how to define it for sure). Throughout my education I've been presented with 3 numbers... As far as I can remember... they were 107 years, 116 years (I didn't remember this one precisely, but now that I've seen it it certainly rings a bell) and 134 years. And I would have answered 134 years, so I only knew the last one. Interesting stuff.
  12. I know of a book titled Caligula by Albert Camus, it was the play in his "trilogy" of the Absurd, but I don't know if that's the one people were referring to.
  13. Out of boredom during my Fall semester finals, I developed the art of the instant sonnet. Most of them are jokes for my friends or caricatures of them, but I wrote a few that are actually poetry. I figured I'd share my favorite one with you guys. I know a few of you who speak French very well, so I'll only include a translation if someone requests it. It's untitled as of yet, but I call it Sonnet #4.
  14. The 13th is always a great day, even better if it's a Friday, though the closest Friday the 13th is in May 2005... shame.
  15. Katz, I should point out that Smarties as Canadians and Europeans know them do no exist in the US... I found that out this summer, but for Americans... the Smarties Katz is refering to are somewhat like Chocolate M&Ms.
  16. Hmmm, that's the cathedral of Cologne, if I'm not mistaken. Certainly an odd image. Interesting to see how the brain makes connections between words and images, isn't it?
  17. I've actually not been following the U.S. elections as there are way more important things going on... like the Red Sox winning the World Series. Frankly I'd be happy if Bush could get out of there but even if he doesn't I don't really care. It'll probably be about the same for me either way: U.S. does something. Some part of world complains. I shrug.
  18. My friends and I have been eating quite a few donuts these last couple of months... at Tim Horton's it's 3.99 for 6 or 5.25 for 12, so we buy the dozen if there's just two of us. Ended up buying two dozen for 5 people yesterday, but a few of the people there were amateurs and only ate one or two each. I ended up eating 8. The best are the maple frosting, custard-filled ones followed closely by the blueberry jam-filled ones. Chocolate frosting is acceptable, but nothing beats maple. Cool... I'm a weenie now... I guess that'll happen if you don't post for over 2 months.
  19. There is no reason why I should mind that you wrote this, Yet I understand that you may think otherwise, knowing me. Recent events might have changed me somewhat. I seem to be less shy and take charge more nowadays. Originally I would have never acted as a leader in social situations, Now I went out with friends, thought of something to do and paid for pizza! Muah-haha.
  20. Tyrion reads the note slowly, pausing to look at the skull after every other word. He then looks around, yawning. "Huh... I'm glad Ozy took it this well."
  21. Well, my predictions were right. Liberals won, half of Quebec voted BQ. (49% is close enough to half...) My vote probably didn't change anything, being in an entirely French-Canadian area. I didn't look at any results, but they probably had 95% of the votes without my help.
  22. Sorry I'm late. Katzaniel, A normal person would certainly admit defeat in my situation, as you had already made your decision by the time I arrived. Nevertheless, I urge you to reconsider, for there is clearly no one who deserves your attention more than I do. What better match than an Eater of Non-Members such as you and me, the only Official Non-Member? You may not believe me, but I have a good amount of facts to back up my statement. Attraction forces are proportional to the square of the distance between the particles, and even with the great distance there is between us now, I feel pushed in your direction. We can therefore conclude that it is only a matter of time before we become inseparable. I also realize that it took a while for me to notice you, but that is purely my fault. Your immense magnetism would have lured me to this area long ago had I not been hiding in a Faraday cage for the duration of the thunderstorm. Although I feel my absence was justified, I still apologize for making you wait. Also, I should warn you that according to the Doppler effect, the frequency of my letters will become higher as I get closer, and though the amplitude of my feelings should not be affected by this particular fact, they will be manifested more often. You may try to resist this at first, but I will keep acting as a condenser for the energy provided by our love, and the pulse created by this interaction will match the beating of my heart. Letting our love run out would only kill me. The timer formed by this Resistance/Condenser/Battery circuit will not last forever, so please make your decision soon. I must now retreat to my Faraday cage, as I fear many suitors will shoot lightning bolts out of their eyes after reading this. But know that my cage blocks Electrical and Magnetic fields, but it will never be strong enough to block my love for you. Anxiously waiting for a response, Tyrion. If anyone needs help with the Physics references, ask me.
  23. I agree, I've read that it was changed to simplify the story. Originally Paris died, Helen married his brother, who also died, and then she went back with Menelaus. I think the reason the movie is so different is that Wolfgang Petersen is not a big fan of mythology. I've read that apparently the Gods were removed because he thought they were unnecessary. I guess he just didn't get (or didn't read) the Iliad.
  24. I'm think they took out most of the gods to make religion in the movie closer to what it is today. Not to mention they'd probably be trying to 'inspire' people and all that stuff, and gods quarrelling doesn't provide much inspiration. Humans fighting, on the other hand, does for some reason. And most of the deaths you find unjustified in the movie (Menelaus, Ajax, maybe Agamemnon) were all earlier than in the book, because they wanted all the 'bad guys' to die (it's an American movie...) and didn't want to have the movie keep going too long after the fall of Troy.
