  1. Brianna looked at her list again, rereading what was written. She had to find those items and think about a few things. Looking around, to make sure she was alone, Brianna made her way into the bush. A ray was hitting something shiny on the ground ahead. It was a coin! She tucked it in her pocket and began looking for a large leaf. As she stumbled upon a tattered cloth, she was reminded of that disgusting pair of underwear. Grabbing a stick, she prodded and moved the cloth to the side. Underneath was a pinecone and two socks. “Does this belong to someone? Or was it planted?” Brianna looked around to make sure it wasn;t a trap. She tucked the items in her pocket and kept walking. A little while later, she made her way to the beach, and sank down in the sand. She closed her eys for a few moments and enjoyed the warmth. When she opened her eyes, she barely glanced up and saw Zak in the water. She got up to go speak with him, but tripped over something hard. Looking down, she saw it was a brown pinecone. Brianna picked it up, in a moment of heat and was about to throw it when something hit her in the face. She looked up and saw a bird had just flown over her with a real treat. Grossed out, she took off her shoes and put the pinecone inside one of them and walked herself into the water to rinse off. She walked out of the water and discovered seaweed inbetween two of her toes. As she bent over to pick it up, she also found that the sand there had clear grains. She grabbed a pinch and the seaweed and headed back to her shoes. Tucking all away, she put on her shoes again and headed back to camp.
  2. Shadow of the Butterfly is 22, and DeanTheAdequate is 24! Hope your birthdays were excellent!
  3. Dearest muse, I’m sorry-- You left me without as much as a farewell. And so I thought you would return. But time’s passed on and still you’re gone, I’m here alone and vacant. Did I take you for granted? ‘Cause now I know how much you mean to me. Maybe I didn’t follow your direction? There’s regret because I’m completely lost. I should have paid attention to your calls, For now there is no drive to create. I feel dull and boring and sick inside. Come back so I can feel alive? I’ll try real hard to make you proud. And share with others our combined works. I’ve no inspiration without you. And without you, there’s no creation.
  4. OOC: I was out of town all weekend....so I'm REALLY sorry! But I'm here now and gonna try to make up for it. The only person Brianna had taken any time to get to know was Zak, and she realized that a new strategy would require making new alliances. So she decided to begin conversing with the others during down time. She went to one of the huts and changed into a tank top and shorts and made her way to the group. She sat down between Johnny and Zak. With a sharp rock, she began to whiddle on a piece of wood. After a while, it began to take form of a grasshopper. Quite amused by her work, she passed it to Zak to see what he thought. So far, she had survived the challenge and quite frankly, felt that since Jessica was gone, the real competing could begin. Pansy had seemed stuck up...and while she was used to dealing with rough neck types, Dan was strange...so she was glad they were gone. Brianna got up and went over toward Stacy. She decided to talk with her, since the city folk fascinated her. "Hi, Stacy? It's been a while and I haven't actually introduced myself. I'm Brianna. I hear you're from New York? I've never been anywhere other than my home ranch 'cept once I went to see my aunt in the country. But I've never been to New york. There are so many people? Is it different to not be around so many people?" She sat there a while and waited, and began to whittle on another stick. This one turned out to be a tiny flute with 4 notches. She handed it to Stacy. "It's not too great of a whistle or anything, but I hear you have a son...maybe he'll like it?"
  5. Would that make it any easier to follow?
  6. A little late, but I was away for the weekend. Happy Mother's Day!
  7. Being in an airport was unusual for Brianna, since the only vague memory she recalled was when she took a trip to Alabama to see her Mothers Aunt when she was 7 yrs. Looking around at all the cameramen and hoopla, shocked her a bit, and she tried to fadeinto the background. That wasn't hard with all the comotion going on at the customs table. Maybe if she just put all her clothes on in layers, she could wear them there and just pack her shoes, make-up and god-knows-what-else in the bags....Or she could beg other contestants to spare her some room in their bags for her stuff....should I offer? Er...she doesn't look too friendly...I better not....but I could see if anyone else might help.... Brianna cleared her throat and made an announcement. "Hi! Erm..my name is Brianna, and...um...well....this..er...fine looking lady here has an issue...as you can see...and..." Everyone was looking at her with impatience and so she rushed through the rest of it... "...so if anyone has any extra space maybe they can offer her some in their bag?" "What about you lady?" She looked around and couldn;t see who had asked her the question...but responded, "um...well...I have boots and they're muddy so...I'm SURE she doesn't want muddy clothes...." People began to snicker....
  8. I really liked this! I think it could be turned into an animation! So cool!
  9. Two weeks after Brianna had sent off her application, a package was delivered to her. Inside was an acceptance letter, a list of essential information, and legal contracts/forms to be signed. After she informed her family of the news, she made a few calls to find someone to temporarily fill in her work on the Ranch. I sure hope I don’t HAVE to come back here. I’m resolved to NOT come back. So I HAVE to win. And that’s all there is to it…. With that thought, she headed to her room to pack her bag.
  10. After the last few Pennites had mingled and made their way out the door, Zariah went to the window and transformed into her crow form. She flew to the forest where she met Wanderer and a few other friends who followed her back. They helped her clean up, the best they could, and escorted her to her room. "Well, Wanderer, you and the boys can tell everyone that the Ball was a success! Thank everyone there for me, and let them know I'm sleeping in tomorrow." Zariah pet them on their heads and watched them fly out her window. She took out her quill to record the fond memories made that evening. (OOC: Any Mod--this no longer needs to be a sticky. Thanks!)
  11. Please, hold my hand close Help me understand myself Lead me toward the light Please, forgive my flaws So I can let the pain go And move on with life Please, friends, embrace me Believe in all my goodness Accept me always
  12. In her small quarters on the left wing of the ranch, Brianna looked over her application before she slipped it in the brown manila envelope. She headed to the kitchen to see if the post man had brought the mail yet, and was glad to see the counter empty. Heading outside into the brisk late morning breeze, she made a silent wish that her prayers could be heard and answered. The opportunity to get out of this small southern town and see the world was her motivations for entering. She slipped the stamped envelope into the mailbox and headed back to the barn for work. As it was opened at headquarters this is what was written. To the producers/casting director(s): Name: Brianna Michelle Taylor Gender: Female Age: 23 Occupation: horse rancher and administrative associate on the Taylor-Berkley Ranch\ Location: small town north of Great Falls, Montana Goals: To get out of Montana and see the world, to have new and exciting experiences Hobbies: horse-riding, camping, carpentry, fishing, dancing and a volunteer tour guide Strengths: Adept to outside nature and animals, friendly, focused, soft-spoken Weaknesses: stubborn, inexperienced with anyone other than town folk and tourists, sensitive about certain issues. What can you bring to the show: Depending on the location, I am pretty good with outdoorsy things, I’m a good competitor, and my particular situation as a (hopefully) participant is unique and maybe interesting to viewers who want top watch the interaction of the participants. Why you want to participate and win: I would participate with the goal of winning. I am from a small unknown town and I want to be able to have an exciting life. I need money for that and I watched a couple seasons of Reality TV shows and saw this as the opportunity to get the funds necessary to make my goals/dreams a reality. (OOC: I’d like to participate, so this would be my character’s application that needs to be approved. If you want her to come in for an interview, she’s fine with that—or you can just accept her and send her the info to come in or whatever needs to be done---but the Mod needs to make some kind of a post so I know what to do next)
  13. Maybe I'm being TOO unrealistic (sorry I spelled it wrong in the subtitle). [EDIT: *scrub*scrub*scribble* What misspelling? --Quincunx] Maybe I'm all alone in feeling this way, but I want the Pen to be a positive, fun, productive place...and when I comment on stuff I feel like my ideas are disliked or looked down upon. So....I thought instead of crusading for peace, I'd write a few "upper" haikus and hope that others will add thier own. Keep the Mighty Pen, A haven of peace and love; Union of writers. Respect the Pennites, Be constructive and friendly; Kindness and laughter. (ooh it's 5-7-5, right?)
  14. Alright, I will join! I'll post a character discription later. (Should we go ahead and post an application in character in the actual rp thread as well???)
  15. OOC: YEY! I'm SO proud of you!!!! *hugs*
  16. I'm Katy, also known as Katharine, Kat, and sometimes Kathy (although I really dislike being called Kathy) I current live in Lewiston Idaho. It's been quite different out here and growing on me everyday. I have a loving but misguided family back East. I'm journeying closer to God every day and learning new things from Him and others around me. I'm struggling in school, not with grades, but motivation to get through it. I haven't made any local friends. I have made local "family". I guess it's just a phase in my life right now. Not too exciting. I don't write at all like I used to, but I'm sure if I did there would be a maturation to my style and content since I've grown a lot from the Zariah who wrote here 3 years ago. If I have some inspiration, I'll write again and develop Zariah as a better role-playing character.
