Gwaihir

It is a short man who steps out around a corner but his strong sense of discipline makes him hard to ignore. He is wearing the obligatory black and it shows that he is strong and not physically to be discounted despite his height. "Greetings" His voice is very quiet but it projects across the room. You could call me 親切, but I didn't come here to talk. If you are still here to talk to me afterwards I will consider you worthy.

"Fleh fll gleck bleh ptooy!" It took a while but Gwaihir did get all the feathers out of his mouth. "Some sheep!" he complained. And why is anyone throwing sheep? How rude to the sheep?" Here a bunch of people smiled at the confused elf. He may have been the only one to notice that most sheep don't burst easily and aren't full of feathers if they do burst. dragonqueen smiled at Gwaihir. She leaned over and whispered "It's okay, they aren't real sheep." Something tickled her nose and she realized Gwaihir's ears were still full of feathers. She said a bit louder "It's okay, they aren't real sheep!" Still Gwaihir didn't hear a word she said and he wondered off confusedly so dragonqueen gave up. Still with feathers in his ears Gwaihir went off to his room and fetched a pillow that didn't resemble a sheep in the least. Slyly he proved that even a clumsy elf can be quiet until *thump* a pillow hit Ayshela in the back. When she turned she saw Gwaihir looking even more silly than usual as he grinned despite his feather decorations.

Jechum, it's clearly been too long since you've been around. When I saw "A Newbie's Birthday" I was really thinking of someone who shouuld be welcomed to the pen not Mr. Jechum Newbie. Happy Birthday!

Is this just me or does it remind one of an excellent carnival activity? That and a very cute story. Enjoyed reading it!

I have recieved some good questions so I'll answer them here too. Stories, poems and RP are all welcome (though RP might be harder to do?) I encourage pieces that are more closely related to travelling but I want to encourage submissions so as long as it involves travelling in some way I'll be happy. Also to be noted, anyone is welcome to write and submit more than one piece if they want. If there are two pieces by one writer I will note that since the comparison might be interesting.

For the rest of the month, I am inviting submissions PMd to me of writing involving travelling. People will later be invited to guess who wrote what so if one wants to stretch one's horizons or just be tricky you can make a piece that isn't written the way you usually do. On June first or so I will post each piece of writing anonymously and anyone can give three guesses. For the next week all pennites are invited to guess but no clues will be posted. One week later I will post the names of each writer but in a mixed up order. Guesses after this point will be less difficult but will be worth slightly less geld. Writers get twenty-five geld and are encouraged to guess too as long as they can do so without spoilng. For instance if there are only two writers and you're one of them then don't guess who the other writer is Before any names of participants are given, a correct first guess will recieve twenty geld, a correct second guess will recieve fifteen and correct third guess will recieve ten. Once names are posted anyone gets fifteen geld for a correct first guess, ten for a second guess and five for a third.

The latest Jim Butcher book in his Dresden series is out and perhaps not his best but it's extremly good. Harry Dresden is a wizard who does detective (and more) work in Chicago. Very well written and the series improves over the course of the series and is often quite funny. I'll edit in a quote or two if I can find one I like when I get home.

Then as he turned he saw why Cambio and Annael were delayed. At first he thought Cambio had vanished but upon looking closer the scene was different. Utterly exhausted from his time as a dragonling, Cambio had turned into a toadstool. It would probably be a bit before his body was rested enough to turn into something better. The little brown toadstool turned red adn then flashed blue as it tried to say "Don't leave me!" Whether or not Annael understood I can't say but after a bit of thought she shrugged and scooped up the flashing toadstool before walking after Solivagus

OOC: Patrick this was my attempt after our conversation this morning/afternoon. If there's anything I should change tell me and I'll be happy to. The dragon looked at Richard and if it hadn't been a dragon, one might have said it was laughing at these humans. There was no response though and everyone paused a moment. Finally, Cambio sighed. "Well, guys, there is something I can do. I can't do this for long though and it's pretty damn tiring. Let's hope it doesn't eat me." For a moment, every muscle in his body seemed tensed and Cambio held his breath as he strived to contain the turmoil that was forming his shape--and it sometimes seemed, his life. The other two waited and then *pop* Cambio had become a tense baby dragon. He was about human sized and he bowed his head in what he hoped was respect. "Umm, pardon my form, sir...or ma'am, sorry. I mean, I'm sorry I'm a dragonling but I don't know any other form that could speak Draconic. All respect is intended, believe me. But ...." The hillside rumbled. "The form of an exalted Dragon! You try my patience, small ones." Cambio the dragonling bowed as best he could, almost knocking over Richard in the process. "Your greatness, we didn't mean to intrude. But this is our portal and we just appeared here. In fact, you don't think you might be willing to stop intruders from passing this way...except for us who belong? The dragon snorted and the hot air blasted the three. "You are on my hillside, rats. What will you do for me?" Cambio blinked and thought 'I should have seen that one coming.' "Umm, whatever you want sir...or ma'am, I mean." The dragon blew a bit of hot air at Cambio. "Silence or you shall bore me. There is a town off to the east that keeps hiring heros to kill me. Now, I am quite capable of killing all their heros but I am tired of killing rats for a bit. Go and tell the villagers not to attack me and maybe I will let you and your friends through this portal. I do not promise to stop eating the villagers though. Be careful of your task, for if I have to burn the village, that will be quite a bother for me. If I have to do that, will make sure I get you too. By the way, you make a terrible Dragon but it amuses me that you tried. I could have spoken your language if I'd really wanted to, you know."

That day, Cambio looked like a lithe elven girl and she squealed sharply before he could restrain the reaction. The dragon growled. "Oh my GOSH!" Cambio took a deep breath and tried to center himself and then turned to look at his comrades. Neither of them reacted in that split second so he turned back to the dragon. "umm, Greetings!" OOC: I've started an OOC thread for this and I spent too much time on it. I'm at work and I've got to start working. Feel free to continue from here, you two. If no one does, I'll try to write more in a bit.

In my experience that word is often used about youth. "Oh, she's a little harum scarum imp, but she's alright and I'm proud of her." Kind of like hooligan if that helps. I'm told it's more often used in Britain but I don't know if that's true.

Okay, then I take back my slander of vocab vitamins, perhaps I was being harum scarum to criticize quickly .

Those Dutch lawyers always say tell you they care about you but really I suspect they're pretty pococurante about the whole thing.

At least one of those isn't my fault . Frankly though, I do think a weird button is an improvement over a small red x. We will fix things over time.

This is turning out to be a great deal of entertainment. Thanks for organizing all t his, Patrick. I know it isn't really relevant but when it's my turn I'll stick with plants. What else can an elf do .

I fixed the Go image that I knew of last night. There may be another one missing though. (and yes, the button is a bit weird, sometime when I have a bit more time I'll fix it.) It's still better than nothing .

Well, Patrick and I (but frankly, mostly Patrick) have recolored the necessary icons so we have our skins back. Also blessings on Yui, because she told us how to do it and without her advice it wouldn't have been possible. This is all a work in progress but we will be fixing things as we go. Anyone who wants to help recolor icons is welcome to PM one of us. The noir skin still needs tons of work and tan needs enough work itself. Edited to add: To change skins, on the main page go down to the bottom left and you'll see a pull down bar. Note that the Noir is not functional yet because one can't click on anything with that skin on. However, these are still a work in progress. Some skins have impaired functionality (especially the ones with ---- in front of them.)
