  1. Over here in the DC metropolitan area it is snowing! (Small flakes now) There is a snow storm watch from now until Saturday.....
  2. Is this from true experience or just originally made up? 'Tis very heart-breaking....
  3. Disney, eh? hmmmm.... Peredhil reminds me of Merlin from The Sword and The Stone
  4. Ok! That's cool! I can cover the Assembly room....I hope Vlad can do the RPG threads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone could get started on their sections and PM them !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Woot!! I was actually hoping someone would write something christmans-like with originality! Awesome!
  6. Writing is like a second language, once learned, it flows freely form my fingertips and out to share with the world. A great exploration of the inner thoughts....the spyglass for the writer who is the explorer of unknown lands.... writing to me is the medium for my creativity.....
  7. There are so many things I am grateful for.....and yet I feel that i take all or most of them for granted. If only we could be appreciative of everything every day of the year. But, to give mentions to some I would like to show gratitude for: Understanding family Understanding friends The kindness of a stranger Sunsets and daybreak Food, clothing, shelter, and education A loving God Health and well being Enjoyment of time and being able to have freedom
  8. WoW! Thank you all..... didn't expect so many people to notice. I had an okay b-day. I was lucky to be with my boyfriend and family over the thanksgiving break. I got my first car! Well...not in my name or anything (haven't established credit yet) but it's nice and hopefully I can have it on campus next semester! Well, I have a LOT of catching up to do as well as FINALS to crams for....... Thank you all!!!!!!
  9. *sigh* Okay. I like those ideas. It's declared that it will be MONTHLY newsletter/ email to update members of the Pen. I also like the idea of roating columns as well. So so far it's left under the possibilities that thse have signed up for certain topics: Sayline~ Mystery Person Idea or variation thereof Wyvvern~ either of your two....are cool! Vlad & Gwaihir~ You all didn't have specific ideas so I'd like to ask which one of you all pay the most attention in the conservatory? Because I liked Brutes idea of giving a suspenseful trailer for the threads. But I am not a good reader or participant in that room and can't do a good job covering that. The other one of you can possibly do the same thing in the Asswmbly room if you want.... So far I will cover big things going on at the Pen, New Updates, and Banquet Hall poems.... Perhaps if ANYONE wants to add anything they can reach me through PM or email at Ditzy2628@aol.com.... just write The Mighty Pen in the subject box so I don't accidentally erase it. If anyone has any other ideas, reply here or PM me! Names: Pen-O-Gram The Mighty Pen Weekly or maybe The Mighty Pen-O-Gram! I will ask for suggestions for a few more days and then maybe put together a vote??? But I think the newslettere will be via e-mail to ensure everyone can get it. :woot:
  10. I don;t see this very often, but I like the decesion you made to only capitalize the first letter of the first word of each real sentance. It helps ther reader follow along with the lines and connects them as a whole as well as apart. You have quite vivid exploration in your writing concerning spirit....I like that (I like to explore that aspect of everything through poetry). Really really nice, Ceylara, I look forward to reading much more.
  11. This reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe....I like the poem, and the rhyme scheme and the rythm, and the imagery, and the personification....and....well....just everything, Doomgaze! I am so PROUD of you and quite IMPRESSED!
  12. Dear Diary, *sigh* What a day! I have had to deal with Soooo much today. And to top it off, tomorrow is my birthday (well I guess it's actaully today...) Oliver and I are ok. I hope....I am so sad that i have to go away for my birthday, I would rather spend it with Oliver. But, Family first..... What will I be getting from my parents? I hope not too much, for I fear they will hold it against me.... But a new scarf, a new hat, and maybe some CD's is all I am sure of.... And I asked for a bike toget me around campus (I know, I am L-A-Z-Y) I was really excited about some new music I downloaded from the idea from a friend I was talking to online: The band is called The Irish Rovers.....I downloaded 8 songs and they are really funny.....not hilarious, but very enjoyable. Did you know? I ate coco Puffs for the first time about ten minutes ago. My family is all health food freakness at home, except for the occasional cookie or ice cream bar. But YUUUMMMM those were so so good....a bad breakfast thing I think, but Yummy snack. So much has been going on lately, and it's really made me evaluate where i stand with the world. I think lately the Devil has been hitting everyone hard. It's a shame too....because the timing couldn't be worse for us, but I bet he is laughing so very much. Grrrrr.... well I'll show that low life. I am gonna remin dedicated to God, to my friends and family, and guide those in need. And the harder he hits me or my friends, the HARDER I will be Christian and LOVING. So There! Anyways.... I am pretty wiped. For some odd reason, Jenny decided to call me. A whole month of ignoring me and treating me like crap, and then all of a sudden we are"girlfriends" again? I don't think so. I told her I need tome before i can trust her or even really decide if she is worth all the effort again. I kinda hope that unk in and made her realize that she was not very nice. But I admit it was nice to catch up. Well, I need to get some sleep. Bye, dear ol' Diary. -Katy
  13. Ok, Planning on getting to all this HOPEFULLY this upcoming Sunday??? Sorry, VERY VERY busy lately....but still dedicated...just busy...eeeeppppp
  14. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!! Do! THANK YOU Peredhil, uh....Mr. Peredhil....for your support!
  15. Zariah waves her hand anxiously in the air, quite a bit out of character but genuine all the same. "Ooooh ooooh talk to me if you want! PM me! I want in!!!! Talk to me!!! I want to know EVERYONE and EVERYTHING! I am soooo tired of being shy! Meeeee!!!! Pick me! Pick Me! There's also a rumor about a possible reunion RP where everyone shall come....the Ball was a great place and I met people there....go to the Ball!" (OOC: And I was hoping my QQ would engage unknown people to unknown, but that requires comments from everyone!) And echo (as if a ghost was hypnotizing the audience) repeats until it fades Goooo toooo thhhhe Balllll, Gooooo tooo thhhhe Ballllll....thhhhe Balll.....
  16. Hmmm. Thoughts of what could be: Death of the body: Interperted as either the passing of ones own spirit from the body OR it could be even the destruction of one's own body with drugs or physical torture/pain. Death of the spirit or mind: Giving up of hope, will to live, will to survive, will to change. Perhaps when one is in a coma, the spirit or mind is alive, but the body does not function as a body should. When someone is numb of pain they can be referred to or refer to themself as being "dead" inside. My thoughts: Death is a PART of life. As humans, we cannot live longer than our bodies can handle. Also, it is a recognition that our spirit is ready to leave behind the body and move to another place. Perhaps our spirits wait for a day that God returns and judges how well we have lived our life. Then we go to Heaven or Hell. Perhaps we go to a heaven or hell automatically depending on how well we lived our life and served the Lord. Perhaps we are reincarnated and enter the world again. Perhaps we enter another solar system as another being with or without recall of this life. Perhaps we cease to exist entirely. Perhaps Earth is Hell and if we are good, we can move on, and if we are bad we are then reincarnated on Earth again until we do it right. Perhaps we become spirits that are trapped until we do some particular task to make what we did wrong right. Perhaps we know nothing of after life and have made all of these example up for our own comfort. Personally I believe that there is God, and he is a Just God. Not Mean, but Fair. Not Mushy, but Loving. And if we live our lives the best we can, with all intention of following his messages to us, and walking in the footsteps of his messenger and Son, Jesus then one day whether it be the day we die or the day mentioned in the Bible as Judgement Day, we shall be in Heaven. A place where we are not judged by each other. A place of no suffering. A place of true spiritual awakening and oneness with God and with each other. A place that is worth all the pain we go through here on Earth. While others have other beliefs is thier higher power, the same thought remains: If we try our best here, later will be the reward. Anyways. The best advise I would give to someone who has no clue of the unknown would be to find a place (in your heart and mind) where you can know that comfort of later begins with your life today, and that being the best person you can here will result in a better afterlife. Just my thoughts. My Opinions. My feelings. If you disagree, take no offense.
  17. I am currently finishing my first semester at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Then I am headed toward a second semester that I will actually take seriously. Because of my difficulty with adjustments to change, I am sure that only 6 of my 13 credits will actually pass for accumulated credits toward my degree. So I have 15 next semester to actually earn. I also spend weekends at home with my biological family and visits to my second family (mostly to see my boyfriend) and the occasional relaxation of a good nights sleep. Upcoming: Thanksgiving at my Bayside beach house in the Countryside in Northumberland, Va; Christmas at home in pain from the removal of 4 Wisdom teeth; New Semester filled with extensive studying and on campus job! So that's me: Also reading the "His Dark Materials" (Philip Pullman) Series because I can't find the other books I need to finish the Dragonriders of Pern series. That's me! :woot:
  18. OOC: *sighs, pants, brushes her brow* It's been a hectic weekend and again, left with no computer access I could not continue this until tonight. Appologies to all. Zariah thinks over the great ideas that have come thus far. "Sayline, my dear you are welcome to be a coloumnist. I think for the best of the community, the first issue should be via what some call "e-mail", now I am not sure what this is concerning of such machines of "computers" or what-not...but a friend of mine can help me with this technicality. Anywho... I think there should be these within the letter, and I am still hoping Wyvvern has something to contribute as well. * Opening, preferably discussing the current "Big Event" of the Pen *Sayline's BRILLIANT cover of a pen member * Summaries of stories or poems *Excerpt of one or more RP's (SOmeone involved with the RP's should write this one, because I am inexperienced, and very far behind in this area) * Updates on tentative new contests, ideas for any RPG's *Guild news (Preferably by one of the guildleaders...or at least someone could interview them and see what they are up to) *Wyvvern's antics (or whatever he wants to write) He is humerous enough to make anyone want to read anything he writes) *If there are contests, winners can be announced *Possible the thought of adding links to the mail that link to the webpages where specific writings are spoken about for easy access Gwai- Do you want to have a particular spot where you write something about your observations on the pen or a funny story about your wiggly cabbages or something? Maybe there can be a column explaining the "inside jokes" that go one around the pen so we can all understand the humour??? I will get my friend, Katy to play with this "computer" of hers and test the "email" graphics to create a tentative design Meanwhile all who see and are interested, claim a position, create a new one to add, contribute other ideas, and note that whatever positions are left, I myself shall write. This meaning that it may be very boring...but informative." She shifts in her seat and glances at the audience. OOC: I will create a tentative one and then if anyone can PM their ideas or even mock column I can add it... Thank you to those who contributed or offered already
  19. Awwww! That is so sweet of you to say that I am a good writer....let alone that you wish to be like me? Wow! (Other than my lack of self confidence) I don;t really think I am a great writer. If i could mention others here who I believe are quite more advanced than myself, the list would be very very long.... but thank you for your compliment. It's interesting b/c this poem was buried and lovely Asheyla brought it back to the top....heehee...she is always so kind (and one of those whom I would look to as a great writer on my laundry list of pen members names) I hope to continue growing here at the pen, and maybe when I am 75 and have so much growth that when I hear those words I can believe they are where credit is earned. In the mean time, write some, write lots! I love to read others writings (especially poems)! Zariah
  20. Hello! I am Zariah (in character) and Katy (in real life). I hope to get to know you better, Illiana! You should come in and say hi to us at the Fall Ball (it's not too late) Welcome back!
  21. Zariah felt as if she was in a dream, as if this was unreal and yet knew it was real. People were watching them, but she was watching and following Doomgaze. Gee, this is so much fun! she thought. I wonder how often he dances with girls Zariah giggled out loud. Doomgaze asked, "What's so funny?" "Oh, I've never had so much fun dancing. I feel like an adolescent" A bright red flush brush accross Zariah's cheeks and the tip of her nose. "Oh okay, well just get ready, I am going to let go of your right hand and twirl you with my right." Zariah responded, "Oh, okay." He spun her gently and twisted her back to the starting position. "So, it must be interesting meeting another Angel. How was that? Did you all have nice conversation? I bet it was a relif. You know, I was soooo relieved when I bumped into Crow. Well...you know not literally...heh....uh...gosh this whole conversation thing is really really hard...I'd just assume write you a note." Doomgaze smiled and gave her another spin the same as before. The first song had ended and there was a second of silence before the next song came on.
  22. "Cah kaw cah kaw kah," Crow remarked. Zariah responded half way as she looked up toward the approaching Doomgaze. "Yes Crow. I agree, things have not been the same for the crow community these past 10 or so years...and I-" Zariah was fully distracted. "Hi Doomgaze, We were just talking about some crow stuff, but we can change the subject to something more suitable. Do you, um, heh...usually words are easy for me to find." Silence. "Heh. This is backward. Well, my last dance wasn't so successful, but I have cleaned up. Care to make a few rounds?" Zariah was even taken aback at her own forwardness. Crow cocked her head to the side and awaited his response.
  23. Zariah’s Quill Quest (OOC: I miss some of our absent people here at the Pen, so I decided that if a newsletter was sent to everyone who is signed up, then maybe they will have an interest in coming back. Especially since Soooo much has been changing or “upgrading” around here. I will be making my proposition and explanations in character, so Zariah will be available for questions and concerns here on the thread or through PM. I hope to utilize this addition of the Pen as a way to help unite all of us together and provide a source of information for those who cannot make it to the pen very often. I know that when I am super busy and can’t get to the Pen, I feel left behind when I get there and sometimes overwhelmed with all the threads and post I need to read. This way, a summary of events can catch everyone up and then they can go to those posts that they are interested in to catch up. I hope everyone enjoys) Summoning up courage, Zariah straightens to an uplifted position, aware that she will be speaking to the entire community. Hands shaking, and legs slightly trembling, Zariah opens the door and walks inside. A small stage with table and chair is set up in the back of the room. Several members are there, with curiosity and eagerness lighting up on their faces. Zariah feels a rush of nervousness leave her body and then an energy boost of adrenaline. She walks to the back of the room, steps onto the stage and announces to the crowd, “Good afternoon to all of thee fine members of The Pen. As you are aware, I have been summoned for my Quill Quest. The idea at hand is a weekly newsletter to be sent to all the folk here at the Pen once every seventh day to inform them of the weekly events here at the Pen. For this task, I shall need your help. There are several tasks that need to be accomplished before creating the very first issue. These include the following: ~ A Title of this Newsletter: In Hopes to Be Catchy and perhaps humorous. ~ Possible permanent columns: If anyone is interested in taking a permanent role of covering an area to be used for summarizing events in any area, you are encouraged and welcomed to overtake that position. I would need your preference of interest and a nifty title for your column. You may tell me here or send me a message later. There will be a deadline set for every week and failure to complete your column in time will result in not having your column in that week’s newsletter. I am not willing to be late in the printing. ~ Should this newsletter be written as an email or as an attachment for Microsoft Word? • If it is in email form, it will not have fancy graphics, BUT it would insure everyone could open it • If it is in Microsoft word, I can use boxes, borders, columns, graphics, color, and other interesting and artistic additions These are issues that I desperately need input on before I can begin crafting the first issue. I will leave the post open to ideas and feedback for two weeks and then begin the process of creation of the newsletter on November 29th the hope is that the issue can be sent by December 1st. Thank you for your time, future efforts, and ideas. I hope this will be successful and that everyone benefits from this service.” With this, several claps are heard and Zariah heads behind the table and sets herself upon the wooden chair.
  24. Zariah enters, feeling the whoosh of Ayshela past her and nearly loses her balance. She enters the room and sees the beautiful decorations. "Something is missing," Zariah says out loud to herself. Zariah rushes to her room and grabs a box from under her bed. She carries it back to the Cabaret room and opens it up. From the box she pulls out paper hats and little goodie bags. As she places them on the table, one of the goodie bags falls on the ground and its contents scurry out of the bag. A "bouncy bouncy bouncy ball" begins hitting the walls and ceilings in an outrageously destructive manner. Zariah panicking remembers that if it hits a corner, it will aim for the next wall, so she sets herself up for the capture. Luckily she catches it in time, for other members are arriving for the birthday celebration. Zariah puts the ball back in the bag and ties it with a tight wire. Placing it among the other goodie bags, Zariah produces from her box the final item for Blondemoon. A GIANT card that walks throughout the room and sings the "Happy Birthday Song" Zariah takes her new Quill and marks the inside "Happy Birthday to _____________" with Blondemoon, and sets the card on the ground to make it's rounds about the room. As she heads to the wall to view the beautiful decorations, the card begins singing. "Happy Birthday to Blondemoon. Happy Birthday to Blondemoon. Happy Birthday Dear Blondemoon, Happy Birthday to Blondemoon." Humored, Zariah remarks out loud, again to herself, "A bit redundant, but I am pretty sure she'll get the idea."
