  6. X X X!!! (No, not a porn title *grin*) You wrote! I'm just so glad!! I really liked that! I don't think that pulling one line through an entire poem is always pulled off successfully, and yet here you did it just right without any "cheese" sound to it at all. Thank you for sharing, I hope I get to read more of your work soon!! ~Salinye
  7. Well, I went ahead and wrote a little diddy for this challenge, and I have to say, I have little to no emotional connection to the feeling of the poem. However, I can remember a time when perhaps I had, and I know there are many people who still feel this way from time to time. It feels a little sing songy to me, but oh well! Here it is!! Misunderstood Everyone telling me to act my age, But they can not see past my cloak of rage. The book of life-I read lines from a page, Rehearsed like an actor, upon a stage. Feelings and emotions are hard to gauge, When observing from within one’s own cage. I’d like to be whisked away by a mage, Left only the scent of me, perhaps sage
  8. "There is one other place where tomes are kept, Salinye-sama, but I must warn you about it before I can take you there, for some of what's kept within the Ward Room is extremely dangerous." The Huntress frowned, an expression that spoke volumes about how much whatever it contained worried her. "You mustn't touch anything until we've verified that it's safe. Wakatta?*" Salinye met Yui’s gaze keeping her face neutral as she listened. She didn’t like the idea of being “monitored”. With recent discoveries, she was no longer sure who was friend and who was foe. Allowing Yui to know which volume she planned to read raised certain flags of caution in her mind. However, in the few seconds the wizardess had to consider this offer, she really didn’t see what choice she had. Either she could allow Yui to escort her to this room where more precious volumes were kept, or she could not go to it at all. Allowing a smile to play at her lips that did not reveal her inner hesitation she responded. “I understand. I only ask that I am extended the courtesy of having my choice of research kept in confidence. I’m not accustomed to having my work monitored. We mages tend to appreciate our privacy.” Salinye ran a hand casually through her hair trying to tame that one lock that insisted on falling down the side of her face no matter how she tried to tie it back. Not forgetting the missive that was now residing within one of the folds of her robe, or Charles she picked up her bag and slung it over her shoulder hoping the huntress would lead her to the ward room they had spoken of.
  9. Happy Happy HAPPY Birthday to you, friend!! I hope it leaves you with scandelous memories!!! :woot: ~Salinye
  10. Happy Independence Day!! What a wonderful day to reflect on the many blessings we have living in this beautiful country as well as to remember our many wonderful neighbors. :0) (Umm did I mention blow things up as every pyro's heart elates in glee?) ~Salinye
  11. *stumbles in looking like she's had little to no sleep* "What's all the excitement about? Have I forgotten something again?" Salinye (Still wearing the same plaid pajama pants and 8 year old t shirt from the night before) looks around curiously. Noticing that the attention seems to be centered around Wyvern, she thought perhaps he was simply pushing one of his scams again. However, it was when a red faced damon stumbled through the crowd and bumped into her that she had her questions answered. Gently she took his arm whispering, "Damon, what's going on?" He just looked at her and whispered back. "Promotions. You got one too," before he moved on, seeming eager to be out of the lime light. The wizardess crinkled her brow in confusion. However, before she could further ponder the situation Alaeha attacked her with a warm hug. "Congratulations! Quill Bearer! Isn't it great?!" Salinye stumbled returning the hug. "Quill Bearer! Oh Alaeha, that's so great! You really deserve it! Congratulations!! I knew you'de get promoted!" Alaeha looked at her for a moment taking in her attire. "Salinye, did you just get here?" The wizardess nodded her response. Alaeha then erupted into a fit of laughter. "Silly Wizardess, you are a Quill Bearer as well!" ................ ........................ ........ "WHAT? There must be some mistake, I've been so self absorbed lately, I've hardly had time to even make a presence around the castle, I mean I haven't even been attending your wonderful poetry classes!" "There is no mistake, Sal, so you better get used to it." Alaeha was then swept away by more friends wishing to congratulate her leaving a very stunned wizardess. OOC: Thanks, I truly am shocked, I really HAVE been distracted by RL situations that must come first. I'm honored and will do my best to return to the full force I used to be here with. (That's a warning for those of you who have liked the nice quiet absence of the blonde wizardess!! lol
  12. Happy HAPpy HAPPY Birthday!!! I hope this one leaves you with many memories to write about!! ~Salinye
  13. I had one of these recently and so I thought it would be a good analogy thread. There are many different kinds, maybe an exciting one, like a roller coaster, or one from a strong fright. I can't wait to see what you come up with. :0) ~Salinye
  14. Salinye sits straight up in bed. I've forgotten something....What have I forgotten? Five minutes later she was standing outside of the pen still wearing plaid flannel pajama pants and an old T-shirt that says "Nukestah" (from her adolescent days). Her hair was a complete muss of blonde chaos which was only made worse by her windy magical transport from The Hostel to The Pen. Quickly she ran into the castle through the many public rooms trying to remember what she forgot. Finally, she frantically ends up in the Cabaret room where she finds a few of The Pen members casually lounging among the deflated balloons and half fallen streamers. The wizardess stops thinking, A party, was I supposed to be at a party?...No, I don't think so. At this point she notices a banner that has half fallen down and crumpled allowing her only to read the words "PPY BI AY GY CON!!!!" Salinye cocked her blonde chaos to the side in contemplation as the other people in the room stared at her wondering if perhaps she just crawled out of a corner somewhere. Suddenly, and with no warning, she let out a shriek causing everyone around her to jump in surprise, as realization hit her. Turning from the room, she ran through the corridors, nearly knocking people over as she passed them until she came to the door of GyrE's private quarters. "KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK" Here she paused impatiently (After all, it was 2 o'clock in the morning.) "BANG BANG BANG BANG" "Open up, GyrE!!" Finally some frantic movement could be heard from inside, and a distinctive thump and clatter as the ranger was awoken. The ranger didn't bother to ask who it was, as he knew only members of The Pen could be calling at his door. Finally, she could hear a lock being undone as the door was thrown open. "Wha....Salinye..." He stumbled surprised blinking from the bright light in the hall. "Are...you okay?" It was only as he said those statements of concern that it dawned on Salinye, that perhaps she should have paused in her rampage to consider the time and perhaps plan a greeting on the morrow. Smiling Sheepishly she threw her arms around the surprised and half awake ranger in a warm friendly hug. Then, still oblivious to her mussed attire, she summoned a bag out of thin air and plopped on the ground with it in front of his door and began rummaging through it pulling things out and tossing them behind her as she rambled. "I'm so sorry! I can't believe I forgot! I guess that shows you how distracted my mind has been lately! You what with dreams, and a hostel to run, and trying to learn all kinds of languages from Daryl, I've just been so busy!" Here she paused to toss a rather large and heavy stone out of the way before continuing. "Anyway, I just think you're so great, and how could I forget your...AHA!!!" Pulling out a long leather bag tethered tight at one end and a card she stands up to face the now very confused and humored ranger. Before she could begin an insane ramble again he gently took her shoulders looking her in the eye to make sure she was listening. "Salinye, What in the gods are you talking about?" Salinye looked at him as if HE perhaps had lost his mind. "Your birthday ofcourse! What else would I be talking about?" Gyrfalcon looked shocked as he dropped his hands. "You have come here at this hour of the night because you forgot my birthday??" He blinked not sure whether to laugh or go back to bed. "Ofcourse!!" She smiled as if there was nothing odd about it. "Now, here is what I was looking for. I made this some time ago for you, planning it as a gift for some occassion or another, because you know, it's best to be prepared. Anyway, and here is a card....Yes, yes, I know it says "To Salinye, Love Celowyn." I didn't have time to get a new card, but that card is funny, see the little dancing bugs? So, I probably would have written something about you being a great friend, and being glad we've met, and how much I adore Daryl and all sorts of nicey feel good stuff like that, so just imagine that part. OH! and since I have to go, it is rather late you know, I'll just tell you what the gift is now. It's a pouch full of arrows. They're enchanted, it will always be full. I'm sorry if you already have that!!" With this she shoved the gift and cards into the rangers arms giving him one last smile before turning and nearly tripping over the mess she left in the hallway. Turning around she snapped her fingers and the various objects scattered across the floor disappeared. Waving she called out, (Again, oblivious that hollering down a hallway at 2am may not be the kindest thing to do) "Happy Birthday, Gyrfalcon!!! Get some sleep, you look tired!!" Then she happily continued down the hall content to have remembered what she had forgotten.
  15. I would love for you three to tell me who you wrote about. (well okay, Pered, you're off the hook, you explained.) I rather like these, thanks for sharing! ~Salinye
  16. Stands up with a HUGE VETO sign. NO email battles. Keep them here, please. :0) Taking it away from this board would just be LAME! ~Salinye
  17. This challenge was actually inspired by scripture! Song of Solomon. Your challenge is as follows: Describe someone you love to me. I want to know about their physical appearance as well as your emotional connection. Do this without using any words that are body parts. (nose, stomach, hair, legs, nostrils etc.) This is a free form write. You may do this through poem, flat out description, reflective thought or short story. HOwever you want to achieve this challenge is fine! Have fun!
  18. Dear Diary~ Well, I write here to update you with much sadness. One pregnancy that arrived unexpected and overwhelming had turned into an excitedly awaited event! However, I now have come to the realization that I will lose this baby to miscarriage. This will be the fourth one lost this way. It will be a hard couple of months, but I've gotten through it before and know I can get through it again. I can't help but wonder how come KJ and I create so many babies that don't make it past two months. Makes me worry we have some odd genetics. Anyway, I'm thankful for the children I do have. We've decided that after this miscarriage we're not going to prevent. With as many miscarriages as I have I think we'd rather take any healthy pregnancy we can get regardless of the timing. :0) I would hate to prevent for two years and then have it take over a year to get a healthy pregnancy. We definately want one more child. Anyway, the good news is, that it was only one baby this time. Not twins. Last time I miscarried twins, that was more emotionally hard for some reason. Anyway, thanks for listening. I thought I should update you, you're always so supportive. My comfort is in that I know I have a Heavenly Father watching over me. It's actually a blessing to lose the baby so early. I mean if the pregnancy is not healthy, I'd rather lose it now than 6 months along. ~Shelby

  20. As always, Admirable work, Yui. :0) ~Salinye
  21. Psimon! BLECH! I hate poems like that! However, it was well written!! ~Salinye
  22. OOC: I didn't NOT use imbianic Pentameter (or whatever that's called) out of dislike, I simply am not adept with it yet to confidently use that style. :0) As always, thank you for the challenge!! A tender kiss you place upon my lips. I hold you close as you wipe my tears. A held back sob does audibly slip, Finally able to let go of pent up fears. Not knowing if you'd return from that ship, Lost to me forever, after all these years. Welcome home, the love of my heart. Now let us pray never again to part.
  23. I echo Cyril's sentiments! (Which is not hard to do since he always offers such insightful critique :0) I appreciate your brilliant use of imagery! ~Salinye
  24. These are very raw words you have displayed here, Tattered. I like that. It's more of a free form writ. I have a couple of those on here too. I think sitting down and letting the emotion of the moment spill onto paper is one of the BEST way to get the heart of a poem before it's put into a structured form. Often times, the raw words (as in this poem) don't need structure to dig its way into the hearts of the reader. Rest assured, many people have felt the way this poem reads at one time or another. I liked the religious emphasis as well. I personally could think back about oh...8 or 9 years and think perhaps the words tumbled from my quill instead of yours. Thanks for sharing. ~Salinye
