  1. Dove listened intently to the whispers from the lycanthrope woman making eye contact and nodding to indicate she appreciated the information and would make a note of it. She watched the unique woman leave mildly curious about her before turning her attention back to the group of bounty hunters and their would be employers. She waited until a small break in the conversation presented itself. Gaining Urgarte’s eye contact she finally spoke up again. “You’re right to want proof. You can’t trust anyone in this industry at face value. I would have walked away from here thinking you a fool, otherwise. I mean, for all you know, I AM his mistress, and here as a spy for him.” She then put her hands on her hips and tilted her head to the side in thought. “Well, he doesn't really have any significant or out of the ordinary scars. Clerics tend to take care of those things. Besides, the way Exophek was expelled was by Holy Water, and that wouldn't leave marks on someone like Gyrfalcon. So, I suppose one of the main things about Gyrfalcon that is not common knowledge is his amulet.” “His amulet?” Urgarte asked mildly curious. “Yes. It's a small oval silver amulet with a wolf's head and shoulders shown as it howls at a small moon overhead. On the left there is a stylized gust of wind, and on the upper-right, a feather floats in the air. He wears it beneath his clothes and next to his skin at all times. Even under armor, or when sleeping or bathing. I asked him about it once and although he swears it’s nothing more than a simple memento that reminds him of his past, I highly doubt that. Have you ever known Gyrfalcon to be sentimental? I’d think that probably this amulet offers him some sort of ability or protection. I can try to get it if you want.” She paused only a moment before she finished verbalizing her thoughts. “You may ask yourself why I’ve bothered to get to know him so well, and why I’m not loyal to him. However, for a bounty hunter to be loyal to any man is to give herself a weakness. Gyrfalcon thinks I’m loyal, and that gives me a great advantage. I like advantages. However, I’m glad you’ve raised the pay, you’re going to need to prove you have that money, because for me to participate in this mission is for me to give up a cover I’ve taken years to establish. I’ll never be able to show my face in these parts again.” With that she folded her arms across her chest and looked up to Urgarte almost challengingly.
  2. OHHHHHHH I like that. Makes me wonder how easy it would be to turn it into a haiku. 7, 5, 7 ~Salinye
  3. Salinye, the forever Sappy romantic really liked this sad poem. I've made a few little changes I thought you might need below. :0) Just technicalities, nothing major. I hope to see more of your works!! Thank you for sharing! Remember the time you held me in your arms and made me laugh till the tears streamed out? Remember how it felt just lying there listening to eachothers heart beats. Remember all the nights that I felt alive just for being here? Remember everday I was in your life? Whatever happened to those days? Waking up just glad to be here. What's wrong now? I wish I knew, what you were thinking, what you were going say. Now, I don't even know you. What happened to the guy of my dreams? My knight in shining armor has rust to a faded and dirty gray. Who are you? Why am I even still here? Sitting in your house, on your computer, watching your T.V. Forever thinking of you. I just wish you knew.
  4. I really liked this, liked the rythm and repeated pattern. If I were to change one thing it would be the third stanza. I probably wouldn't use the same word in the fourth line as I did in the third since in all the other stanzas the words in the 3rd and fourth were not the same. I might do something like, But passions die, And people cry, lie upon lie, truth upon truth Or something similiar. Otherwise, great poem. :0) Pass it on that we would like him/her to come join us at The Pen!! ~Salinye
  5. **editing to remove names. I just realize Urgarte and Bob have not had their names introduced** The blonde woman could no longer listen to this idle debate. She first directed her comment at Tayne. "You're a fool." Her comment caused them all to turn towards her as she stood. Just as Tayne was realizing she had insulted him and was twisting his face ready for a rebuttle she continued. "But you're right. Closer to the truth anyway." Standing she made her way through the small group and leaned against the stage facing them with Urgarte and Bob above and behind her. "The men behind us, however, are not fools. They offer you 780 thousand geld because they know they'll never have to pay it. We're nothing but cannon fodder to them. None of you..." Here she paused with a cruel chuckle. "In fact, I'd be bold enough to say that even all of you combined could not acquire Gyrfalcon's head....Not even the one who says he can. Let me tell you the truth as I see it. These men here, just expect you to locate Gyrfalcon and suicide as you attempt to kill him in your lust for payment and if they get lucky, you might injure him. This man here" She pointed a thumb at Urgarte behind her without looking. "He never had any plans for anyone other than his beefy sidekick to kill Gyrfalcon if you ask me." The small group of Bounty Hunters began stirring slightly looking from the woman to the men behind her not liking her tone, but at the same time wondering if she didn't speak the truth. Before the two men behind her could interrupt her speech she continued on. "But what these two don't know, is that Gyrfalcon has obtained quite the beefy sidekick of his own, these days. I'd say it would be a close match. In fact," She turned her head to look at the stern faces of the men behind her. "I'd even be bold enough to say you might even lose. So then what's left? Gyrfalcon and our trusty employer." Her voice was heavily laid with sarcasm. "So, you see, he WILL need you. Someone's going to have to defend him from Gyrfalcon's ire." Finally it was Tayne who had had enough of her "I'm better than you attitude" and spoke up. "Yeah, and what makes you think you're so different? You think you know so much more than everyone else." She met his eyes evenly, even ruthlessly before responding. "Well, I am just guessing here, but I'd be willing to bet I'm not far from the truth. However, there is one thing we've got that Gyrfalcon doesn't have, although he thinks he does." "Yeah, and what's that?" Tayne retorted irritated but also curious. "Me." She responded causing snorts of disgust to erupt all around her. Finally Urgarte had had enough. "And what makes you think you're worth anything more to me than anyone else here...uhhh...and who are you?" He asked more than mildly irritated at her brazen attack of his intentions. Finally she turned around to meet the eyes of the men who wished to hire them. "You can call me, Dove." She said pointing to the Egyptian bird symbol tattood above her eye. "And, I'm worth more to you because I already have a cover established within the community Gyrfalcon lives in. You'll be able to devise a plan and use these bounty hunters for something worthwhile rather than sending them to useless deaths. He trusts me. I know him." Urgarte stared down at her his expression bland and unreadable. "You know him? How well?" He asked. Dove smiled coyly and looked up at him through lowered lashes and answered in the one way that she thought might secure her the position within this mission she desired. "Intimately."
  6. I just wanted to let everyone know a few things. First, I"m really enjoying doing these predictions! Secondly, I'm sorry only two are completed. I'm halfway through Zool's. I had hoped to have it done tonight. I have a huge project due in a week, that is demanding a lot of my time. (Shoosh GyrE!) Once that's done, the predictions will be popping up much quicker. :0) So, be patient and dont give up on me! They might pop up slowly over the next week, but they'll speed up after that! I'mloving your posts signing up and have been scribbling all kinds of ideas down when I think of them. :0) Anyone else is welcome to still sign up. I'm doing the predictions in order, so be aware if you sign up today it could be a few weeks before I get to you. So far I have 2 down and 19 to go lol!! I have this horrible head cold too,so my brain is a bit on overfry! Thanks for everything! ~Salinye

    Elf

*Salinye reads this poem turning from one shade of red to another until she's just one big blubbering purple faced elf!* That's the kindest, sweetest, most wonderful thing anyone has ever written about Salinye! Vlad, thank you so much. I just love it! I couldn't have asked for a sweeter poem about my most treasured character. You've succeeded in giving this lady, a large smile. :0) ~Salinye
  8. The blonde woman remained slouched in her chair taking in the unique form of this lycanthrope female bounty hunter who stood before her with her hand politely extended. She waited until the woman was just starting to lower her hand thinking perhaps she’d get the same rude unresponsiveness that Mira had, before she finally sat forward a bit shaking the Feline creature’s hand. “You’re a unique creature, and woman. I’m sure I’d remember if we had. You must be mistaken.” She replied in a cool yet non-offensive way. Her tone suggested that perhaps the years had naturally hardened the woman’s mannerisms and that her apparent disrespect wasn’t always meant as such. More to the fact, it was just naturally part of who she was. “Mira here, “ she continued changing the subject and pointing a thumb at the man sitting down the row from her, the first indication that she had retained anything about him. “He’s wondering what this little “meeting” is all about. Any idea? I’m rather anxious to go about my business if it’s just another slouch wanting his old boss dead.” She spoke loud enough for both Urgarte and Bob to hear her.
  9. I've thought and thought and thought and tried to come up with an answer to this one and have just determined I can't. However, I wanted to let Stick know that I LOVE Tenacious D and that almost gave me an answer! Did you know the guy who plays Satan in their "Tribute" video is the lead singer of Foo Fighters? That guy is hilarious! Anyway, that was way off topic. Only thing I know is that for composers it would be a toss up between James Horner and John Williams. My husband says the song "She's Got A Way" by Sting fully embodies how he views me. However, he's in love and sick in the head. No one else would feel that is a Perfect description of me!!! lol Love skews the senses!!! It has been great reading all these answers! ~Salinye
  10. A rush of adreniline is like the wave of an ocean. Sometimes it's just in the distance lapping softly not calling any attention to itself. However, sometimes its a Tsunami that can devestate or do very powerful, amazing things.
  11. Well to answer my own question.... The obvious answer would be my husband, even though I live with him and see him every day. A rare 24 hours with no children, just he and I? HECK YAH! BUT if I weren't allowed to choose the obvious choice because that's too easy, well then I'd say........Hmmm....Then I think I would want to spend the day with a mom in a third world country. I would want to do everything she does, experience her life. I would choose this in hopes that I would walk away with a greater appreciation for my life and compassion for those around me. Also, it would be nice to have a renewed desire to actually follow the old cheesy saying..."I want to help make the world a better place." Now if the parameters changed, and it could be anyone from history, well then I have LOTS of people I'd want 24 hours with. Like Maybe Jesus. Love to hear what he has to say about life today! Or maybe Hitler. Perhaps I could understand his insanity, or maybe soften him. You never know. Perhaps I would even choose my late grandmother...You can't imagine how much I would cherish 24 hours with her again! Or perhaps I'd spend it with a police cheif in the late 60's and take him up in a building near the mossy gnoll (spelling) early into a particular parade so we could all finally KNOW who would want to shoot president Kennedy. Who knows, these are just thoughts that came to me when I was actually pondering the question. :0)
  12. I actually think there is a third style that combines the two that Rune described. I'll use "Hostel Fox" as an example. That thread merges all three styles (random chance, novel and turn based). Hostel Fox sprang up from some random care free no direction rp posts between a few friends. Then I got an idea for a plotline regarding Salinye that I really wanted to run. So then the main underlying plot of the thread shifted to a a bit of a turn based rp with people following my lead a little bit. (sort of the dm for that specific plot. It has a definate beginning and ending.) However, I also tend to favor novel type rp where each poster controls the storyline and char's to a certain extent each time they post. In response the characters sort of have to roll with the punches as they control the storylines when they post. This is also flowing through Hostel Fox. Now this usually brings up several intertwining subplots that are Novel. However, usually all the subplots are heading towards the same end as the main underlying plot. Does that make any sense at all? I hope so! I guess it's a combo thread. I think novel and turn based storylines can coexist very nicely if done right. :0) The ooc threads in the greenroom really help to keep everyone on the same page. I highly suggest every serious rp start one. :0) That's just my two cents. :0) ~Salinye
  13. Very beautiful. I wish I could hear it said in French. :0) ~Salinye
  14. A woman could be seen standing in the back of the auditorium her arms folded across her chest as she leaned uncaring upon the wall. She watched the other few “bounty hunters” arrive before slowly making her way forward. Urgarte had noticed her an hour earlier, but he had dealt with bounty hunters before, and knew they never made their moves until they were ready. He watched her approach out of the corner of his eye while sharpening his knife. The woman was tall and slender, yet quite fit. Her muscle tone was apparent through her snug dark brown leather breeches. She wore black leather boots up to her knees, a fitting black shirt, and black leather wristbands. She had no visible weapons upon her. Her hair was golden blonde and tied back into an intricate series of knots in the back of her head, held together by small steal rods that looked like they themselves could be weapons. She had what appeared to be a dark blue tattoo around her left eye that reminded him of a symbolic Egyptian drawing of some sort of bird, perhaps an eagle. She wore blood red lipstick as a final touch to her ornately made up, yet beautiful face. When she reached the stage she simply looked up to the man and asked in a voice roughened by the industry, “You the man runnin’ this show?” Urgarte raised an eyebrow trying to decide if her disrespectful tone was bravado or stupidity when she continued without answering. “No matter. It’ll only take me five minutes to decipher whether being here is even worth my time.” She then slouched down into a chair in a most unladylike manner with a smirk not even acknowledging the others in attendance.
  15. Well, at least I got the "blessing" part right. *grins* ~Salinye
  16. The Ward Room Salinye stood holding her breath as the magically protected door slowly swung open. The mage could only see a portion of the room, but couldn’t move to walk in, as the waves of magical energy were so strong they took her breath away seeming to penetrate to her very soul. Being a magical being, she was naturally sensitive to magic anyway. However, the invisible waves of energy radiating from the ward room were so overwhelming it took her completely off guard. Finally, after a few moments of mutual admiration, the huntress, Yui-chan placed a hand upon the small of Salinye’s back gently urging her forward. Blinking to clear her mind from its awe, she walked forward into the room with Yui only a few steps behind them. As soon as they had crossed the threshold, the plain looking, although highly enchanted door quietly closed behind them. Yui, immediately leaned against the wall next to the door and pulled out her book seeming to get enraptured by it’s words, as promised. Salinye, however, scanned the room drinking every last wonder in. The room was pentagonal and very large. The ceiling stretched high above them causing the wizardess to wonder if its appearance was enchanted, or if they were indeed in a pentagonal tower. A large soft glowing orb was suspended near the ceiling casting a warm glow over the natural reds and browns that seemed the color scheme throughout the entire room. At first glance, one might assume the orb was a manmade object, however, Salinye’s keen wizardess senses told her it was indeed magical illumination. Three of the walls, including the one behind Salinye, with the door that they had entered through, housed about half a dozen tomes encased in large glass and wood cases. There was quite a bit of empty space that could hold more tomes, however, the appearance was such that gave the impression that the tomes were so powerful as to need plenty of space between each other. Salinye had once experienced what could happen when two powerful tomes that were not meant to interact with each other did. The results can be deadly…or worse. Her desire to spend days, weeks, perhaps years researching those tomes alone was very strong. However, Salinye knew her place and regretfully turned her eyes to the far wall across from her and the door. This wall paled in comparison to the three others she had just examined. The wall was completely covered in very average bookshelves that unlike the three previous walls, was full of books. The only thing that made these bookshelves appear anything out of the ordinary was the fact that they ran along the entire wall from floor to ceiling. The top of the bookshelves could not even be clearly seen from where she was standing. To the left of the wall was a rolling ladder that also extended up to the wall to enable access to the upper most books. The fifth and final wall on the right hand side was also lined with shelves. These shelves contained a series of small wooden and glass cases. Each case is about 3 inches wider and taller than the tomes they hold within. They sat upon the shelves side by side, the small tome cases preventing any of the tomes from interacting with each other. The floor of the Ward room was hardwood. The wood was stained in intricate designs that followed the octagonal pattern of the room. Many hues of browns, reds and ambers flowed over the floor all coming together in the center. However, the center of the design could not be seen for it was covered by the most interesting and notable pieces in the room-A black weathered Armoire. The doors of the armoire were closed, and it appeared it had not felt the touch of a hand in many long years. The piece was obviously the focal point of the room and automatically drew in Salinye’s attention as well as curiosity. However, the moment she allowed her eyes and mind to focus on it she felt a whispering wind pass through her mind. The words of the whisper could not be heard clearly, although the message was as understood to the wizardess as if it had been yelled out to her. Within the armoire lies something far more dangerous and powerful than I. The wizardess didn’t need to know what was kept within it’s weathered wooden case. She only knew she would not be seeking to find out. The mage started her descent around the room, drinking in the power that radiated from the first three walls. She innately knew that the tomes upon those shelves were the most powerful ones. She was careful as she walked to stay within the middle of the path not getting too close to the shelves nor the armoire in the center. Passing the third wall of large tome cases she stopped in front of the high-shelved wall at the far end of the room. Standing in front of this wall glancing up she decided that although these books must contain sensitive information, they were not magic or magically protected beyond the security of simply being in this room. Moving on to the fifth wall to the tomes kept within their smaller cases she again felt energy radiating towards her. Although the power paled in comparison to those of the first three walls, she still thought these tomes were most likely highly magical and powerful. After pacing the room in this manner for several times, she finally concluded that the book she was looking for, the one indicated in the anonymous letter would be along the back wall among the non-magical books. “Yui?” She asked turning to look over the top of the armoire at the huntress. “Yes?” She responded lifting her eyes from her book. “Am I assuming correctly when I say that I could safely peruse the books upon this back wall without worry of magical reprecaution?” Salinye asked. Yui smiled pleased to see that the information the wizardess sought appeared to be on that particular wall and not within some of the more powerful tomes. “Yes, Salinye-Sama. That is correct.” With that she went back to reading her book as Salinye approached the shelves. She spent some time pulling out this book and that, flipping through pages and skimming information more out of curiosity than anything. Once her curiosity was satiated and she realized that most of the books seemed to hold either sensitive information or documentation outlining disturbing events, she stepped back and sat down on the floor Indian style. Closing her eyes she concentrated forcing the will of her power forward searching for a tome called “Gyrfalcon the Mad.” Salinye indeed wished to find this tome if it did exist, however a large part of her hoped it didn’t. The wizardess sat like this, unmoving and buried in the concentration of her search. Yui remained calm the entire time as if she’d rather be doing nothing else than reading her book within the ward room, just as she promised. Finally, the wizardess opened her eyes and looked up in time to see a green book slowly slide off of the shelf and begin to drift down to where she sat. She watched as the book continued it’s descent until it came to rest gently upon the floor in front of her. To her surprise and dismay the title was indeed, “Gyrfalcon, The Mad.” Salinye nervously looked over her shoulder to be sure that she was not being watched. Once she was sure (AGAIN) that Yui was keeping her promise she reached down to open the book and casually flip through the pages. Salinye knew that it was probably highly against policy to allow any of the books or tomes to leave the ward room without express permission and good reason. Knowing the book would take days to read she closed it back up again and placed both of her palms against its cover. Closing her eyes once more she mumbled the words of her spell as quietly under her breath as she could. Soon images began slowly flashing through her mind. The starting images were indeed of Gyrfalcon. However, he was not in this world, and he was not dressed in the ranger gear she was accustomed to seeing him in. He was very much a…MAGE. There were other mages as well. Soon the pictures began coming so fast that the wizardess could not take time to think about them. She could only merely absorb them within her mind to think on later. As they sped the horror grew. Icy lands, great demons in battle. Many people gathering together to defeat the evil and ill-intent…Gyrfalcon. This realization caused Salinye to throw her hands up away from the book in horror and gasp while involuntarily scooting back from it. The motion caused her to slide across the well-polished wood floor, her hip brushing the bottom black leg of the center piece armoire. As this happened that same whispering gush of wind blew through her mind, only this time the whisper was more of a roar in intensity. Salinye’s eyes flew open as she repelled herself away from the armoire more horrified than she had been about the information she discovered. The sound of her gasp and shuffle across the floor brought Yui quickly across the room to find her sitting in a heap breathing deeply and pale, the edge of her skirt covering the book she had been reading from view. “What happened?” She asked with grave concern lacing her voice. Salinye looked up blinking as her heart began to slow. “Nothing. I’m sorry to have alarmed you, I was just….surprised at my findings.” Yui looked at her with a mix of skepticism and concern, but didn’t push the issue. “I just need to return a book, and I’ll be ready to leave, please.” The huntress nodded and slowly walked back towards the door glancing over her shoulder once. Gathering her wits back together Salinye climbed the ladder returning the book by hand, rather than magic. She then crossed the room, purposefully walking in a wide arch to avoid the centerpiece. Picking up her backpack and slinging it over her shoulder while wiping at the beads of sweat on her forehead she smiled to Yui. “I’m ready, now. Thank you for helping me and for your patience, Yui. I am most grateful.” The newest Elder of The Pen stared at her for a long moment. “You’re sure you’re alright, Salinye-Sama?” She asked one last time. Salinye nodded replying, “Yes. Wizard research isn’t always easy on the Wizard.” She then smiled eager to leave the room. Yui nodded at her answer then placed her hand upon the door knob and opening it just as she would any other door. This act surprised Salinye. Apparently the lock worked one way. Of course. That would make sense. She thought to herself. Once they were both outside of the Ward room and back into the library the two women exchanged pleasant partings and Yui left the library. Once she did, Salinye slumped into the chair beneath the stained window the huntress had been reading in earlier that morning to contemplate her findings.
  17. Wow, thank you Peredhil. I especially found the second artical MOST educational. :0) *realizes just how much she doesn't remember/know* Signe! I didn't see your post before I responded! Thank you! I'll be sure to bookmark that website!! ~Salinye
  18. Okay, I'm finding as I write in word, I'm getting corrected a lot on the word "which". It wants me to replace the word "which" with "that". Of course, I do. However, writing caught in the flow of the story, I find I type the word "which" without even thinking and have to go back to correct. So, call me uneducated, but it has occurred to me that I no longer understand the use of the word "which" vs. "that". Anyone care to enlighten and educate me. Perhaps others would find it useful too. (Hopefully I'm not the only one who has grammar issues from time to time!!) ~Salinye
  19. Well if *I* not Salinye, but me was to be an object. Hmmmm..... I'd have to say something like Oil. Because if life is a mini-van (and my life is close) then it isn't going ANYWHERE without oil in it. Infact, not only is it not going anywhere, but if you use and abuse it and let the oil run dry your entire mini van will HALT in a very destructive way! That's my life. Wife, mom, Oil. However, my husband would definately have to be the tires, because he seems to carry us all, and my children would have to be something highly enjoyable, yet with the potential to drive you crazy, like a stereo with lots of different stations. :0) Now, if I were to talk about Salinye. Hmmm that's a harder one. If I had as much crisis in my life as Sal has had in hers, I might have to throw myself from a cliff!! lol (not really) But seriously, the girl has had some rough times! Maybe I'd say she's an elegant beautiful and cherished lamp. When it's turned on it glows magnificently brightening the whole room. But when it's off, its painfully forgotten in the corner refusing to share its rays with anyone. Okay, that's my stab at this writing exercise!! ~Salinye
  20. If you could spend one whole night alone with anyone who is currently alive, who would you select? Bonus Question: If the parameters changed to include anyone in history would your choice change, and if so who would it change to? There you go! Let us see a bit of YOU, because YOU are GREAT! : ~Salinye
  21. BUMP! HA! I've stumped you? Could this really be? Is NO one up for this challenge. *grins* Very well. I'll write a response when I return home this afternoon. ~Salinye
  22. Hmmm well it's: White card, Green card Green card? I'm guessing the white card is Blessed something or blessing something lol Very beautiful sigs. :0) ~Salinye
  23. Well, I'm not as sure about the first two stanzas. It's not that I don't like them, it just seems that all the stanzas below the first two are all about Metamorphosis and the top two aren't. Granted, I see that you're trying to explain in the top two stanzas why you want/need to make the change. However, it almost seems like you could take the top half and bottom half and turn them into two seperate yet awesome poems. :0) I can feel the pain of your words, and particularly liked this: I really liked the idea of comparing yourself to a creature that changes from one animal to a completely other. However, I suppose the only caution I would give would be to be careful about wanting to cut ties with all the past. Once you're healed, you'll often regret it if you shed EVERYTHING, even though once painful. Upward and onward with strength. :0) ~Salinye
  24. LOL, but very creative! As I said, I leave the interpretation of the readings entirely up to YOU all. :0) ~Salinye
  25. I'll be regularly updating this with links to the final works participants write about how Madame Q's predictions come true. :0) Link to OOC Thread Link to Madame Quixotic Intro and sign up Madame Quixotic's Predictions The List: (Just click a name to see their work. :0) Peredhil Lord of the Gay Salinye Wyvern
