The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

When the morning comes, I will arise;

And treat the dawnlight as a prize.

It is an act, there to disguise;

the drab reality of lies,

where no one even really tries

to find the Truth or win the Prize

Where everything's a smaller size

while the prices yet more quickly rise.

And responsibly for for anything They still denie.

Or shift the blame with threadbare lies

that only work because no one tries

to find the Truth that is the Prize.

The candle flames cast shadows here,

One for every light I strike.

I gave my name away once

and the room kept it, polite.

Whoever keeps it keeps it well.

Whoever holds it holds it light.

The candle flames cast shadows here,

I am not one of them tonight.

The key was warm when I found it

As if someone had just held it for a bit

But where's the door, the lock, the fit

I look I hunt I search I flit

And finialy I decided to sit

With a single candle lit

And wait for a new thought to hit

About this key that was warm when I found it.

A marketplace filled with ghosts

It's silent cacophony echoes through the emptiness

As shadows bustle about

Nothing more than a memory

Of a vibrant long ago

Dust settles

As if in search of that past

Frantically seeping between every crack

Reaching each nook and crany

Weeping in its' solitude

The ghosts pay it no mind

They go on

Oblivious to their own absence

If silence were to speak

If silence were to speak,

it would talk the way a house talks

with the door left open all night.

Not loud. Not to anyone.

It would say it kept the light on

past the hour light is any use.

It would say the chair by the window

has been sat in by weather for years,

and weather never said thank you.

Then it would ask, barely moving its mouth,

whether being kept

counts the same as being wanted.

A house does not ask that out loud.

A house holds the question

in the shape of a coat on a hook

long after the coat is gone.

So ask the house what it kept.

Ask what the keeping cost it.

Whatever the house remembers, it keeps.
