  1. Sure you are in time... I'll be posting the NPC kill tomorrow, too tired to do it today. So, you have one more day of free RP
  2. No problem at all! Have fun! *pushes Blby gently to the game thread*
  3. Game thread is up and open for free RP! Sign-up is open until first NPC kill. Until then, RP at will and have fun. Please, remember that this time I'm allowing guest posts, not related to the game. When it comes to voting, I'll always link to a list of actual players. Important Notes PM alliances are not allowed; PMs with RP purposes are alright, but please copy them to me - I'd like to know what's happening for eventual "flavor" posts (mod-written posts) during the game; day phases last 48 hours; night phases, 24 hours. RP is free during night phases, however no accusation/speculation whatsoever; "dead" players: feel free to be a friendly ghost and keep the RP; however, don't influence the living players in any way; eventual inactive players: they won't be out of the game; they can have any role; no stating of the roles OOC or IC; everything is done through RP; There will be two wolves, a Seer and a Baner. effects of baning: Baned Result wolves' target no kill wolf if more than one wolf = 50% chance of normal kill; if one wolf = no kill anyone but wolves' target normal kill Concerning the lynchings/kills when accusing, please add a last OOC line clarifying your vote; respect the deadlines... during day phase, if there's not enough votes after 48 hours, there *might* be a short extension; however, once that is over, whoever has the most votes will die. If there's a tie, the lynchee will be determined through dice; same holds true for night phase: if the targets of wolf/seer/baner aren't PMd me in the 24-hour-period, they are forfeited (that is, there will be no kill/no seeing/no baning); as the number of players decrease, day phases may be shorter provided all active players have posted; If you have any doubt, don't hesitate in PMing your friendly mod (a.k.a. me )
  4. (With special thanks to Peredhil, Patrick, and Mynx for their suggestions) With Christmas but a couple days away, Apt Toys seemed and sounded as a busy beehive. Customers and employees filled the ample corridors, with the staff having a hard time keeping the shelves supplied with the toys everyone looked for. In every corner it was possible to see people trying toys, from toddlers to adults. Some customers had even brought their dogs or cats with them, so that they could choose their own presents in the Bark & Co section - where a big banner read, "For all your Owner needs! Leashes to lead them, small bells to alert them, litter boxes so they may clean!" Several of the sections had banners identifying them, and one of the biggest greeted the customers at the same floor as the Customer Relations and Returns. That banner had never failed to bring both chuckles and grimaces from the CRR staff from the day it had been put there, and they had soon learned to recognize the special customers who looked for that section of Apt Toys. At the center of the main hall, under a canopy decorated with icicles and reindeer antlers, Santa listened to children. Some of them, to the despair and embarrassment of their parents, just abandoned the line to chase employees carrying any toy that caught their eyes, and most often than not ended up lost in the corridors. Not that they cared, since they were always found while entertaining themselves with the several toys displayed for their pleasure. One of them had recently ended up in a security guard's lap after running over the guy while "test-driving" a ride-on scooter. All over the store, people were busy admiring either toys or undecided customers...
  5. Welcome to Werewolf XXXVII! It's Christmas time, and in spite of a rather harsh Winter you are in the biggest toy store in town. Whether you work there, had to buy a last-minute gift, or are just window shopping, the variety of toys for every age - from newborns to adults - impresses you. There is even a special section for pets! Our players are: Patrick => Santa (alias Michael Short, 47) Mynx => Sally Kellerman, 17, high school cheerleader and part-time employee at Customer Service Giles => Brian, 10, Sally's kid brother Mardrax => Nick Degras, 10, fulltime student and Santa's helper Panther => Thomas Steward, 21, employee Vene => Matthew Jonathan Clarke von Wunscheringen III, Mattie the Third for short, 11, spoiled-rotten-to-the-core-and-then-some son of an extremely wealthy CEO Blby => Bartleby, a guinea pig who works as one of Santa's elves Guinea Pig => Pig, a guinea pig, representative for GP Toys Gryphon => Jamie Baron, 12, whose parent works on the janitorial staff Mithrandin => David Reyes, 18, student, took the job on the store in the seasonal wrapping presents department Important Notes Because of the season and theme for this game, I will be allowing anyone to post and interact as NPC, regardless of their signing up. Please, just keep with the spirit of the thread. However, the NPCs (or non-signed-up guests) cannot vote or interfere with the voting in any way, be it by voicing suspicions or trying to make people vote in a certain way. If I catch any involuntary interference in voting, I might be editing the posts to not spoil the game for those who are actually playing it - so please, don't be offended if that happens If Christmas comes before we can wrap-up the game, I'm sure also that we can accommodate a few days on freeze if needed be. Other important notes are at the OOC thread, please check them. Game starts next post. Sign-up is open until the first NPC kill, which should occur in a couple days and when roles will be PMd. Guest posters (NPCs) can post at any time without signing up.
  6. cool Pig and Blby: please, can you clarify whether you are guinea pigs in the game? No problem with talking cute guinea pigs in the story, I just need to know for the sake of accuracy in my in-game posts!
  7. lol It would be just perfect, Pig You wouldn't by any chance have one of those plushies right now, would you? I collect plushies, and I don't have any guinea pigs in my collection *grins* *goes poke around to get more players*
  8. Yay! Glad to see you back, Panther! And double yay for our two resident guinea pigs! Pig: I see no problem in having two elves helping Santa, besides young Nick/Mardrax. However, if you don't want to clutter the area around Santa, maybe you can take turns 1) helping him by staying at his side, and 2) walking around the store to entertain the customers/children there. Another idea is for you to be representing some toy manufacturer? I'm thinking of starting the free-RP earlier, to give you time to interact and have fun for more than the usual couple days... what do you think? I'm still trying to get hold of a few players Players so far: Patrick - Santa (alias Michael Short, 47) Mynx - Sally Kellerman, 17, high school cheerleader and part-time employee Giles - character to come Mardrax - Nick Degras, 10, fulltime student and Santa's helper Panther - Thomas Steward, 21, employee Vene - character to come Blby - elf (are you a guinea pig? ) Pig - a guinea pig, representative for GP Toys Gryphon - character to come Mithrandin - character to come
  9. Btw... as I said in the QA thread, I am quite busy for the next week or so, though... so I probably will leave sign up open for a week, then start a free-RP phase that will take another couple days. Game would probably start around the 12th, if that would be alright for people. If there are lots of people and Christmas time comes before we can wrap it up, I'm sure we can accomodate a few days on freeze
  10. After a quick talk to Patrick in MSN, I have volunteered to mod a Christmas-themed game (and thus traded slots with Ozy ). I am quite busy for the next week or so, though... so I probably will start signup (technically, Pat will do it on my behalf) and leave it open for a week, then start a free-RP phase that will take another couple days. Game would probably start around the 12th, if that would be alright for people. If there are lots of people and Christmas time comes before we can wrap it up, I'm sure we can accomodate a few days on freeze What do you say?
  11. I'd suggest taking out post number, member number, and geld (can't we get it invisible, and show it again if we ever have another Carnival?). It *is* too crowded...
  12. Hm... Well, I for one am not happy with the choices for either story or poems... since most of the time I don't look for "critical" in any of them, but it's not "positive only" or "just sharing" either. "Minor feedback" would be okay if I knew what "minor" is... grammar? flow? feelings? I'm not looking for grammar in poems, though in stories I might. I'm certainly looking for flow/feeling in both of them... I don't know what could be there to give better ideas of what we want, but maybe we could discuss it a bit more?
  13. Intrigued also, and might be on, but not on the 24th at all... same as Patrick and Vene 25th is a possibility but can't make any promises... Edit: also, after 12GMT for me is easier.
  14. I might have the time to take a booth, or part of an event. Can't guarantee it though, since it'll mainly depend on when you expect to run that Carnival....
  15. Glad to know you liked the story, Wyv I can't answer completely for Mynx, but we both did for sure want to close that gap; it all started back when Mynx needed Tanny's True Name for her Quill Quest, and we both agreed that a small folow-up to the Halloween '04 WW would be a good setting for a story explaining how Mynx got to know it. She has been poking me for the last two years to have that story written! (She's a most persistent kitty, she is ) And it was a very good opportunity, for me, to tell more of Tanny in the process. Telling it to the Naked Angel made more sense to us because both our character have developed quite a lot from the original timeframe, and so it eliminated the need to go back two years in our minds to be able to write it in a coherent way. Plus, it gave us the chance to explain more than the story would have allowed us to. Hmm... the Spirit... back in the Halloween '04 WW, it was actually my plot device to explain why some Pennites would want to injure/kill their friends; being possessed by a spirit was the easiest way out. All that ended up happening there came out from the RP of the participants, including Cryptomancer's Necronomicon. My reference to this last was just a believable reason to justify the spirit's attacks on Tanny, but you know... now you made me want to find out more about that Spirit!! *looks for Mynx to see what she thinks about another story....*
  16. Some more opinions about the format to use. This is the way things are done here... the poll has been up for less than a week, and not many have had a chance to vote, comment, and give their own suggestions on the topic.
  17. Just to clarify - I am in favor of the doodad-whatever! However, technical/admin side must also be considered, since all those who take care of the boards do it in their free time. What might be reasonable in a "professional forum/boards" might take a long time to be implemented here, and I think that it's not that difficult to reach a consensus as to what is possible given the time each one of us has available to dedicate to the Pen. As much as we love it, unfortunately RL does take precedence.
  18. Wouldn't it be easier if the author wrote a few lines saying what kind of feedback they want (if they want a specific one at all) as they post? And for in-depth feedback, either post or link to the Critic's Corner. I think that the CC could also be used for poetry, not only for stories... Also, if we make posting for feedback too bureaucratic (filling up forms to indicate clearly what is wished), there is the risk of not having people filling them at all.... So, my suggestion would be: * something under our name/avatar/whatever * if different feedback is wanted, specify it in the post * for in-depth critique, use Critic's Corner In this way, we don't need lots of work on the technical aspects of the boards, and we use more what is already there (CC does suffer from underuse, after all).
  19. Didn't register a vote because I had two points in which I couldn't choose any of the options, and it refused to accept blank votes... so here it goes: I think having any indication of the kind of feedback desired that does not demand one to go to the profile to read is good; at least, it is practical and much more useful for us than seeing the member number, for example. Though I'm not sure what would be the best to use... either a standardized drop-down or a few words. Having numbers will probably mean that one has to go find the meaning of those numbers, and then it wouldn't be so different from reading the profile. The problem of drop-down is to find general words that would fit most of our needs; the problem of choice words is that what's clear for one, might not be clear for another. As for default, I think a blank is ok... or a 'not chosen'. I think good to have separate levels for poems/stories. As Vene pointed out, people who write out of their chosen "area" might want different feedback (either more in-depth so they can improve, or gentler because they're just exploring possibilities). Would I use it? Possibly, depending on the choices available.
  20. Happy to see you around!! *hugs*
  21. Was talking to a friend about a possible activity for the Pen, and then remembered and tried to follow Vlad's Choose-Your-Own-Adventure link; however it gave me an error message (the link is broken). Was that activity/thread deleted, or archived somewhere? Thanks (Feel free to delete this post once the information is corrected)
