  1. Eh...mine is kinda easy. It might be confusing, though. Say-ee.
  2. *voice from puddle of blood* "Just a little nosebleed, I'm ok!"
  3. Hunger is like a beaver. If it keeps gnawing at you, eventually you'll fall.
  4. Friendship is like a house. Depending on the foundation you use, it has the potential to last forever and provide safety and warmth to all who enter it.
  5. I wouldn't worry much, Salinye. Whatever way you decide to phrase something, I don't think you can offend me, for one. Hopefully you got a chance to compliment the preacher on that one!
  6. Fear is like a deep well. The deeper you descend into it, the less you're able to see the things around you.
  7. Birds remind me of flight...and the wind. Mmm, the wind... *sighs happily*
  8. I've always loved short heroic poems. Good job, Salinye!
  9. "And this, my friends, is where we truly get to know each other - in the heat of strong opinions, when an understanding of why they are strong is reached."
  10. Actually I believe Salinye was getting back to topic, which was getting to be quotes at a point earlier on.
  11. "To make no choice is a choice in itself" and "If you have an opinion, there must be a truth to base it on"
  12. I knew how to deal with girls like that - I let them go first in line, then they got all mad.
  13. I must admit you have a point. I realize that it breaks rhythm at the end. Also, I was at a bit of a loss as to how to finish this - I've seen more faults in my life experience than I have good results. In other words, please do toy with the ending a little - I would be interested to see what you can envision from this theme. If I knew more girls who actually WERE themselves instead of one of the other stanzas, I'd probably have done a better job. ;;
  14. Step to da mike, do I got the skill? Heard there was some rhyming so I came to pay da bill Just a-steppin' and a-writin' in a mad quicktime Some'll give their two cents but I prefer to give a dime I ain't no rapper 'cause da words they don't come fast Though I gots ta tell you doing this is a dang big blast Just checkin' out the others makes me feel so very fine 'cause it's lookin' like we all could use some trainin' on our lines We be thankful that we don't gotta use this on a crowd I'm a-tellin' you the results wouldn't make us very proud Hey we havin' lotsa fun and dats all we lookin' fo But dats da end of MY rhymin' - peace out yo ------------------------------------------------------------------------ That's a LOT harder than it looks.
  15. Unfortunately, not many seem to comfort the comforters in my experience. This poem strikes a chord with me, as I've wondered about this same thing often. ...Yet, I have to wonder why this bothers me so much. After all, if my motivation for doing these things is to help, then I have achieved what I set out to achieve. Perhaps after all I am being selfish, doing good deeds to attempt to gain attention. In the end, I find that helping others really must be a selfless thing to be worth much. And what they will not notice when you are present will do no more good for them to notice if you are gone.

    Puns

One day the scarf looked at his buddy the hat and said, "I'll hang around. You go on ahead." The egg's Mom had always told him never to a-poach strangers, but he always kept his sunny side up. Unfortunately, the strangers he a-poached were be-deviled, and they scrambled him good. He was rather hard-boiled for the rest of his life... Darn...I'm SURE I know more. If there was a golf course named Pun, my younger brother would be in his finest fore-m there. Maybe I'll ask that bogey if he can ace this thread with some of his strokes. ^_-
  17. I voted yes. I think that so far nobody has just unconditionally voted yes, so I will. Contrary me. Now for the obligatory explanation. I personally cannot get angry at anything said online, no matter how offensive, rude, childish, etc. For some reason I have been blessed (by no effort or deserving of my own) with the ability to always see online as online, a place where many of us are probably relying heavily on parts of ourself that we normally don't use in everyday public settings. Therefore I cannot get mad at the avatar of someone, because most likely nothing said online can be taken totally seriously. With that being said, I also know that most people forget this at times and as such the internet is a wide, EXTREMELY flammable place, drenched in gasoline and giving out free waterproof matches at the door. In other words, Tokyo in any apocalyptic anime. So to sum up? I believe we SHOULD have debates and I would LOVE to (hence voting yes), but I do not believe the human race is able to handle large public debates in places where we cannot see the faces of the people we discuss with. Heck, we can't even handle those public ones most times. Long post....oh well, sometimes I do that. ....Hey, where'd this soap box come from? *tosses it out the window*
  18. I dunno, I think this is dedicated to all the girls I see who try to win the world over by dressing and looking "pretty" instead of being themselves. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If she searches with her looks Attention will follow Attention is hollow And the world is full of heart crooks If she searches with her eyes Electricity blips Every man trips And she is a nasty surprise If she searches with her clothes Heads will turn Hearts will burn And feeling ebbs and flows If she searches with her dreams The person is ideal The person is unreal And love is gone from the thought stream If she searches with her self She shows all that she will be She shows reality, you see And truely will love find HER on her shelf
  19. Thank you for the welcome! The e-mail addy is stealth1@u.washington.edu And no problem with RL, I have to deal with it rather harshly myself sometimes...
  20. Though I hate to nitpick (ok, I lied ) I find it the funniest that the original post was apparently edited. Isn't freestyling totally off the top of your head? OK, so I'm not the most knowledgeable.....just found it funny. I would try my own freestyling, but I'm too tired to chain more than like two words together at a time. Typos galore if I tried, I bet...
  21. Wow. This poem/song (it's both, in my mind) REALLY applies to me and the people I know, if not all of us. I feel this one a lot, and many of the folks I know not only seem to be this way, they refuse to acknowledge it as well. Again, wow...
  22. So has Falcon spoken...however wrong he is, he shall never accept the truth on this earth.
  23. Only unofficially a member but... mára sinomë (Elvish, "good here")
  24. I think this poem might have personal applications to me in the near future, unfortunately. I do like it, however. Especially the line about, "...exhaustion come at last". I can relate to that line.
  25. Ah, the sacrifice of a life for another out of love, not necessity. I thought this idea was almost extinct outside my own mind, thanks for proving me wrong Peredhil!
