  1. You'd be amazed how well poems like that come through even to those who don't have the memories. Most of it still makes sense and the love is apparent. How neat. Edited by: gwaihir1 at: 11/3/02 4:12:58 pm
  2. Vlad- No she doesn't that's why it's safe here SoaringIcarus-
  3. *laughs* A light funny piece with a real serious meaning behind it. Much truth and much fun. Nice!
  4. This poem has more amazing images than anything I can immediately think of.
  5. Ha. I like your intro, Vlad. Welcome!
  6. I will. My mom and I are both giving her a poem, so I'm waiting for my mom to write hers . Edited by: gwaihir1 at: 10/16/02 9:12:05 pm
  7. This poem almost felt too personal to post, but I don't know why I shouldn't so I did To Elizabeth You’re tough. No one can ever make you cry, ‘Til you’re alone. Your pain is your secret. You’ve always been like that-no matter what: Fractured your leg being a daredevil, And then you walked on it, all the way home. You balanced on a slanted third floor roof, Purely to hang a silly pineapple. You act very unreachable these days. As you grow up and everything changes, Lizzy, some things just need to stay the same. One of those things I rather wish you’d keep Is you and me-Sisters. Edited by: gwaihir1 at: 10/16/02 9:11:50 pm
  8. Sorry to interupt the story again, but There, I think I've adjusted all titles accordingly, and updated the list...We'll see. Smack me if I messed up. Edited by: gwaihir1 at: 10/18/02 11:34:02 am
  9. Officially closed. I'll be updating the list soon Edited by: gwaihir1 at: 10/14/02 4:18:01 pm
  10. Ok, this has gotten a bit hectic, because I didn't state the instructions I meant. That's my fault, and I apologize, so I'm changing the instructions. Don't roleplay your checkin just continue the story. Make it surreal make it rediculous, whatever you like just try to leave it so that the next person can continue it. 11. Gwai: Wyvern what is that? You want Deg crossed off the Weenie list? You'd have to pay me to make that happen! You won't? I guess he's still there then! Edited by: gwaihir1 at: 10/4/02 6:18:21 pm
  12. I was just editing it to get my sig out off, but hmm. I don't see the oddity, btw.

  14. It was colder than usual that day, The wind came in through every chilling crack. She sewed, and wished she had some food to cook- It’s hard to sleep when you’re hungry and cold. No one would accept a woman worker, So sewing was of course her only job. Her eyes fell on the picture on the shelf. He promised to make money, come for her. “I’ll get you out of this hell hole, baby” That was nine years ago. He’d left for good. Hard to believe that he’d abandon her, But there’s no point fooling oneself-He’s gone, Those thoughts made all her memories rush back, So she went out walking to clear her mind. She walked and thought about that man she loved: Layth could bring out the best in anyone So kind he’d skipped his meals to bring her food, And god was he handsome, his flowing hair… She smiled with that look of memory, That happy grin the present never brought, But, then the present brought her back again. Directly in her path was some rich man, He stopped straight in her path-too rude to move? She turned to step past him in the gutter, Wanting to return to her pleasant dreams. But then the rude man spoke, interrupting, “You walk as one asleep, wake up, Shala! He caught her in his arms, and made her see. That well dressed man who she’d tried to ignore- His grin, his love, his help-was back at last! Edited by: gwaihir1 at: 10/2/02 6:56:31 am
  15. Oyez Oyez! All present, I hearby announce the beginning of the Pen's second annual RoleCall. I'll begin by starting a story for everyone to continue, and all present are asked to post at least once. Feel free to post many times. In two weeks from today (the first of October) anyone who has not replied will be granted the Weenie Award which denotes inactivity. To buy their title back they will have to write a post about how they are working off their weenieness. Let the games begin! The bank was always pretty and sunny, but today it was prettier and sunnier than usual when the snout poked up, inquiring. What is it like out here today, it clearly asked. The rest of the body came up in a hurry though when it saw the feet! Such feet they were too...
  16. Interesting! I feel that if you expanded this maybe it would be stronger. Right now the plot feels a bit squished to me. Fun to read. Edited by: gwaihir1 at: 9/26/02 4:17:23 am

  18. The worst of it isn't the being picked up, it's the being dropped down. I think that either Tornado's family is rather focused on him and his actions or Tornado must be a major egotist. Why do you say that he prefers to attack the poor? Regardless though, fun poem! I like. Tornado ******* I am Tornado. I come when you call me I come whirling down at your cry I am Tornado. My surname is Whirlwind I come on black wings from the sky My sister, Lightning, in letters of splendour inscribes my name on the sky My brother, Thunder, reads the inscriptions announcing my name as I fly I shun the mansions, dens of the wealthy I roar overhead, on I fly I come for the low ones, they are the voice that calls me down from on high I am Tornado! I bring liberation Don't flee from me, children of earth I come for the people of poverty's nation I sweep down to bring them new birth My black velvet wings I wrap tightly round you I come rushing down at your cry No more thought of possessions, Tornado has found you I bear you up, free, to the sky ---------- the question is always the same with a dragon: Will he talk to you or will he eat you. If you can be sure of his doing the former and not the latter why then you're a dragon lord"- Ursula le Guin
  19. the line actually originally said soldiers there, but I replaced it with Nazis on advice from someone. I've put it back the way it was. Thanks both! ---------- the question is always the same with a dragon: Will he talk to you or will he eat you. 20. edit, author's note[it was probably temporary insanity that made Myth agree to run errands for Y'Tren, but she thought she was running for the captain, who she needed to please so she ran] I don't know why the stupid, rude captain sent me off to run errands in the hold. Maybe he thought that because I didn't feel a need to fight their stupid sea monster (what would I do against it), that I was free to be worked. Whatever, I just nodded agreeably, because it is his ship. I didn't get to sleep till like four last night, because the sailors were all partying very very loudly. Early in the morning the stupid captain woke us all up. And now, I get distracted from my burnt lunch to find that there's a sea serpent attackign us! What a day. Anyway, so I went downstairs to the hold. There were spiderwebs and mold around. It all smelled really musty and unused too. I wonder what does this captain usually do with his ship that he doesn't need to use the hold much. Regardless, the whole business was annoying because I wasn't given any instructions or information about where the blankets were. I didn't think to ask though, because Gyr and Kaylera looked so cold and miserable I hurried to help. So, I bummed around the hold, and finally under a shelf (that I knocked my head on quite hard) I found a dingy trunk labeled sleeping supplies. That's when I heard the crunching, munching sound coming from inside the trunk. "God! A stowaway, that's the last thing I needed" I thought. Well, this was as good a time to handle the bastard as any-I grabbed a knife, and flung open the trunk. Now, who woudl it be but Reyn? The lousy bastard who escaped me in the inn. I could have killed him, maybe it would have been easier, but I didn't. He started stuttering something at me. Scared shitless obviously. I didn't even listen to him, I just grabbed him by the collar, and ordered him to pick up two blankets (dagger still ready and obvious). Obviously the wimp did, and we walked up the stairs. When I got near the top, I grabbed hold of Reyn's collar in my knife hand, and yelled for Gyr to come. When he came, a bit annoyed that instead of being given a blanket for himself or the hurt avian he was beign summoned. I hissed at him that we had a sneaky, wimpy, idiotic spy who'd come as a stowaway probably hoping to rob us of our goal in the end. It's not as if he could, but... I concluded by asking him "Gyrfalcon, do you want Reyn? I don't."
  21. Nice! You like children in the elements it seems. ---------- the question is always the same with a dragon: Will he talk to you or will he eat you. If you can be sure of his doing the former and not the latter why then you're a dragon lord"- Ursula le Guin
  22. “Yes, I know you’re sick of this line, baby, But see how close we’ve gotten to the front? Everybody splits up into two groups. All the little children get to go left. You’ll like being with the other children. Honey, I’d love to stay with you. I can’t. Mommy and the other grownups go right. We will get to go and do lots of work. No, I don’t know when they’ll let us go home. Do you remember when they made us move? We gave away our home and factory. You were so mad that we gave them away To the soldiers with the big clunking boots. Well now, you’ll never have to move again! After today, men who do things like that, I swear they’ll never bother you again. I’m crying ‘cause it’s all so exciting. Oh my dear son! Love you so much baby! Please give me one last hug before you go.” ---------- I want to be page 93 of Pineapples, the Avian Crows-NyyarkEdited by: gwaihir1 at: 9/14/02 2:09:57 pm

  24. If it is your banquet... Knowing your taste I'm sure I'd be dying to see it end! Well, I'm kidding but then, in seriousness: You say that no one should anticipate? Have you never enjoyed suspense my friend? It's not that I can't stand my life at all. I'm not sitting around waiting to die. But still, I think that the end will be best. I have no idea what t'will be like; I'm in suspense, but I like it like that. ---------- I want to be page 93 of Pineapples, the Avian Crows-Nyyark
