The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

Guest Heart Like A Hole

i thought a lot about who you are

i kept biting my lips.

i'd sworn that i'd never try the one-size-fits all beauty

but what you see

is all you want.

tell me, where do i go?

you tell me

that all i have to do to slow this loss of self is to take it all back

every word.

every pain.

every weakness.

and then, just maybe, i'll be forgiven.

but i'm not the only one with skeletons in my closet

and my hair keeps falling in my face.

you know that i've bled for you

but does it even really matter?

i thought a lot about who you are,

what you want,

what you want from me.

i kept biting my lips.

i thought i wanted you to accept me.

but...

i can color outside the lines.

so there.

Peredhi apologizes for inviting Porcelain to the Pen... and then disappearing!

Powerfully said. In my opinion, letting your value lie in the eyes of another, letting them validate your worth, is always a trap.

You are a unique valuable individual in and of yourself. Much of your beauty can never be lost, except to you - your creativity, your intelligence, your attitude, your ability to endure and overcome.

Physical is transient; what's inside we carry with us through life.

I wrote a comment on some of your other poems in the Critic's Corner. I'll try to catch up on my reading and write some more then.

Again welcome to the Pen! You have a great deal to say about the pain of life, and how to overcome it and triumph.

Hugs.

Peredhil

Key to us accepting judgement from another is our implicit trust in that others opinion. We unquestioningly accept the other's opinion's as rational while we desperately seek to be seen and heard by the other.

But this isn't always so. Sometimes, their actions and reasonings are completely irrational. Sometimes, they are in fact unable to see or hear us because of their expectations.

Ancient, The Pen is Mightier than the Sword.

Bard of Terra, Patron Saint of Aspiring Bards.

Elder than dirt, more foolish than a jester, able to trip over the smallest logic in a single step. It's... Oh, you know.
