Snypiuer Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but my sister and niece went to a friends' birthday party, and it reminds me that every year that my niece has been alive (LITERALLY every year), I've hugged and kissed her goodbye the day before her birthday and tell her I love her and will miss her and will never forget her. When she got older, she asked why I do it and I explained that she'll be a year older, and I will never see 1-year-old or 4-year-old, etc. her again (I also started doing it for her school years), and the next day she'll be a new her (2-year-old, 5-year-old, 8th grade, etc. her). For a while she would cry and say she didn't want to get older but now she just acts like she's annoyed when I do it - but she still hugs me back real hard. I actually started it with my other niece, who's older, but she moved - she's actually in college about 15 minutes away now, and shops in our pantry and refrigerator REGULARLY . . . I miss 6-year-old her. So, is it weird? Quote
