The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

A Tale of the Future

Nervous and slightly shaking the tall elf enters the cluttered office glancing around wondering if she will be welcome. The scroll case in her hands feels heavy much more for the wieght of the words than the paper sitting inside it. She places the scrollcase on the center of the paper littered desk that reminds her so much of her own and sits in the chair to await the Master of this wonderous room.

Beneath the wax seal on the scroll, written in a fancy elven script the words flow...

Lady Evettia Silverthorne –

Evettia, known to most people as Eve is a woman of many talents and more secrets. She stands before you with eyes of pure liquid silver and hair as white as a fresh fallen layer of snow on the mountains. Her long legs lift her to nearly six foot three inches in height while her slender frame hides muscles toned from years of battle training with friends. Her amazing eyes seem to look not only at you but into the very depths of your soul searching out your secrets. When she speaks which is usually with a whispered voice unless she has been angered the sound floats as light as a feather on the winds of a canyon.

Her past while a mystery to many is a nightmare in its own right. She was born the daughter of a young Lord with little power but great ambition. He was known in the circles in which he traveled as a rogue with no mind for the laws of the land. He fought in the war for the king until the day he learned that the king was against his countrymen. That day Eve’s father choose to do something no other man in the kingdom had ever done. He fought against the crown for his own freedom and the freedom of his countrymen. Her father’s fight against the oppressiveness of the crown was one thing that Eve has always been proud of even though that fight cost him not only his life but his good name. Since the day she came of age she has been fighting her own battle to both clear their family name and make peace with what the king did to her father. Eve was an only child, or at least that is what she was lead to believe by those that raised her and which she called family. The secrets they kept from her still haunt her today as she travels the lands looking to avenge her father and learn what remains of her history.

One of her earliest memories is that of her father leaving for a battle for power of the king. She remembers him packing his satchel and placing it on the massive black stallion he always rode. He kissed her goodbye [being only 3 or 4 summers old herself] and rode away only to come back a few moons later battered and bruised. She could remember the smell of death that seemed to follow him where ever he went for weeks. It had made her sick that first time and continued to every time he came home from battle. When she was nearly fourteen summers old things changed and her father fought against the king instead of for him. This made things around their keep very stressful for everyone as her mother had always been on the king’s side in everything.

It wasn’t until much later, after her father’s death that Eve learned the reason behind her mother’s anger at the choices her father had made in the war. It seemed that she was not an only child after all and the man she knew as her ‘father’ was in-fact an older brother of her mother’s. The king, the oppressive and angry king was in actuality her father. Though he did not know of this and her mother begged her not to tell him. The search to clear the name of the man she had known as her father lead her to that secret and many others.

With the knowledge that she may always be hunted for what she was, and what her mother was, she learned to fight and take matters into her own hands when times became tough.

Lady Eve Silverthorne shuffles her feet through a thin layer of paperwork and glances towards the Rolodex clock at the far corner of the room, frowning as she notices that the clock hands have made their way to the "pretty long wait" position. She sighs and crosses her long legs, then perks her head up as she notices a tail stinger hook onto the open ledge of the Office window... followed by a scaly red leg with a black asp attached to it.

"Who's there?" Eve speaks in her whispering tone as she takes two steps towards the window. She pauses as the asp rears its head from its coiled position and lets out a long hiss. "Do you need a hand...?"

"Oh, don'tcha worry." Wyvern's signature hiss echoes from outside the window as he shoves his other leg into the room. The reptilian Elder tucks his wings in tightly behind himself and grips the ledge with his claws, starting a limbo motion into the Office. "I really should be just fi-"

The Office door at the other end of the room suddenly swings open on its own, startling Eve into a jump. The door creaks for a moment before slamming itself shut again, and the open window pane simultaneously slams down onto Wyvern's chest with a crunch. Lady Eve cringes at the lizard's painful position for a moment, then lifts the pane back up and pulls Wyvern the rest of the way into the Office by means of his tail.

"Thanks," rasps Wyvern as he writhes on the floor for a moment. The lizard stretches his wings with a sickening snap, then hops back onto his feet and strikes a small bow in Lady Silverthorne's direction. "Sssorry about that, currently going through some issues with the Office door. You know how wood can get sometimes."

Wyvern growls and shakes a fist in the direction of the Office, only to cringe and bite down on his lip as the black asp tightens in its position around his leg yet again. The lizard forces a toothy grin and ignores the pain as he limps towards his desk and snatches Eve Silverthorne's application from the top of the paper piles. Wyvern reads the profile over in careful glances, then folds the application sheet and tucks it behind one of his horns. He claps his claws together and stares at Eve with a mischievous gleam in his eyes.

"Very interesssting. Y'know, if you want to try and leech your dad for some E-Z gold reparations, my mega-corp offers Almost Dragonic Brand Mistreated Royalty Bloodline Lawsuing Services™. Just a signature or twenty and a couple of mandatory pre-paymentsss, and you won't be not appreciating the wealth that sort of might have been via familial relations."

Wyvern mumbles some words under his breath, then whips out a folder labeled "Devil's Advocate" and passes Eve a sheet of paper from within it.

"Asss you can see, the track record speaks for itself."

Lady Eve raises a brow at the blank sheet of paper, turning it sideways and upsidedown to make sure that she isn't somehow missing something from it. After thoroughly examining it, she shrugs and hands it back to the reptilian Elder. Wyvern curses over yet another faulty folder incantation, then adds the blank sheet to the sea of paperwork around his Office and stamps Lady Eve Silverthorne's application ACCEPTED.

;-)

Swinging the Travel Log happily in his hand, Stoomp walked passed the Recruiter’s Office just as Zepheri and Lady Eve were talking. He stopped dead in his tracks, and stared at the two pretty elves.

“Pwetty ladies..” He breathed softly under his breath.

Then the spell was broken, and with the Mahoney Travel Log still in his hands he ran forward to hug them. First he hugged Zepheri, who he though he faintly recognized. Zepheri gasped for air as the dwarf’s chubby arms closed tight around her, and her respiration squeaked slightly as she took a deep breath after he let go.

Then Stoomp turned to Lady Eve. If he looked straight forward all he was seeing were her hips. His eyes travelled upwards, and he grinned widely as he looked into her eyes. The elf was looking down at him, and Stoomp only grinned wider. Then he opened his arms and hugged the lady by her hips, not thinking that he was actually pressing his head against her pelvis bone.

Meanwhile something weird was happening. The Travel Log in his hands seemed to perk up a bit, and behind them Woody almost seemed to be sniffling. Stoomp let go of Lady Eve, and was dragged over as the Travel Log jumped forwards towards the door.

But the dwarf was not planning on letting go of his prize this easily. He grabbed Zepheri by her leg, and was now getting suspended between the half-elf and the Mahogoney Travel Log pulling towards Woody.

“Izze weird walking stick! Somebody, eeeeelp!”

OOC: Welcome at the Pen Lady Eve, I hope you'll find our community just as amazing as I still find it ;)

Lady Eve smiles and whisles, a large black pather bouds up seemingly out of nowhere, heading for the the group. He stops short at the sight himself wondering what he might do to help. A voice fills the minds of the three there, "Forgive the intrusion but, what might I do to help?"
