  1. I'll try not to post too many Steven Wilson videos on this thread, but if we're talking artists who inspire me...it's him! From the earliest Porcupine Tree up through some of his side collaborations (listen to all of Bass Communion's" Drugged" while "tuning in and dropping out" with a glass of red wine...or whatever) and especially his newest solo albums backed by a band of phenomenal musicians, I love his compositions and his lyrics! This is a video song snippet I just came across a few minutes ago of the live show I went to last spring. It's not the greatest audio but it's cool because I was one of the blobs two or three rows back from the stage, slightly to the left of Steven's piano.
  2. Nice! Here's a 'Saturnine' I really like - though it's not available on vinyl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUZ0ocB3dCs (And I'm not entirely sure how to use the quote feature on here)
  3. This is an extremely difficult choice! Spending time near the ocean is essential for my well-being -- I grew up on the coast of Maine and have lived near various oceans and seas for most of my life -- but I love walking through the forest, especially in the fall. Hmmmm...deep breath so I can cram everything in...can't I combine the two and walk along the craggy coastline high above the crashing surf following a forest path littered with pine needles warmed by the early autumn sun filtering down through a canopy of riotous color? Okay, here's an easy one: Coffee or tea?
  4. I thought it would be 'fun' to create a thread where any of us can pop in and share our thoughts/feelings/experiences through haiku. I like creating images with words but often don't have the time to sit down and write/rework a poem. The haiku is the perfect vehicle for a creative snippet. So, here's a quick one inspired by my love of fall and an image I received regarding the nature of death: Crimson maple leaf quivering on the bare branch: It’s a faith-full fall.
  5. Longhand...I like to be able to scribble and doodle while composing. Walk in the falling rain or walk in the falling snow?
  6. Wow...I'm going to have to look up more of their videos. I've only listened to this one song, but I hear a bit of the "shoegazing" vibe of a band I like, The Gathering. I like their older work with Anneke van Giersbergen singing. I can't seem to find a good video of their song "Saturnine" but here's a live version:
  7. Well, I'm a die-hard prog fan (diverse and eclectic tastes) living with a jazz-fan husband. We both are into vinyl, so there's always something on the turntable. Last night I listened to some Caligula's Horse and Nostalgia 77. Here is an acoustic version of Caligula's Horse "The City Has No Empathy" (vastly different from the album version). I listened to the album several times while driving up and down the eastern seaboard this summer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nl_KxLNzxU
  8. Snarky apples served biting criticism to the rubbish bin.
  9. I couldn't find a camo option, but I'm now sporting the "Death Pen" theme -- dramatic!
  10. I asked the crumpled cardboard box, "Why does Emptiness yawn so derisively?"
  11. The next to the last stanza reminded me of how I felt as I helped my mother go through the motions soon after my father died. Naked emotions...
  12. The sound of shifting corn stalks filled my ears; my bucket remained empty of dreams.
