A rather overweight lady hurries in. She is probably forties, but her weight and awful taste make her seem older. At the moment she is wearing a white shirt with pink polka dots, and a plaid skirt. The requisite huge earings hang down to her shoulders.

She sits down, and a chair appears under her, a desk whooshes up in front of her.

"Well, I'm the Almost Secretary of Recruitment."

She scans the room, and comes upon the wyvern's working area. Obviously things are set up in the way most convienent for a large, scheming almost dragon.

"What is this! Papers everywhere! This is awful!"

She raises her left hand a filing cabinet hurries into place. She nods to it, and begins going through Wyvern's papers. The first one pile is easy, and they go into the folders quickly. However when she moves to the larger pile in front, the first one she scans makes her sputter loudly. What is this!! Taxes, The Pen, Peredhil... This is awful!

Suddenly she hears you coming, and taking a big breath moves away from Wyvern's setup.

"HELLO", she says waddling up to shake hands"

Melba!

Peredhil absently shakes her hand.

It's about time you arrived. Things have been hectic around here. Peredhil runs his hands through his hair distractedly. With all the press of other issues, the Recruitment area has simply been impossible with which to keep up adequately.

No one wants to short-change these new Lights, these potential Stars of the future, these -

Melba has already sat back down and begun typing furiously. Peredhil waxes on pendantically in the background.

Stopping to pull up her sagging support hose, she tunes back in briefly.

-will of course still be in charge. When he's here. But a Torch Bearer to carry on the day to day business will -

She continues arranging things to her satisfaction. Noting that Peredhil seems to show no signs of stopping she stands and waves her hands in front of him.

Oy!

So thank you very much! I have applications to process! It's been nice seeing you. Drop by again.

Closing the door behind him, Melba gets down to work...

Several days have passed

Spreading cream on a bagel, she took a slow thoughtful bite.

She still wasn't the Secretary.

When she'd realized the need for a Secretary to help the most active of Elders, she'd been so sure she'd be hired, she'd begun working without wait.

Now she wasn't so sure about it all...

The seemed very disorganized here.

Oy! Hippies! She shook her head disgustedly. They need me, poor chicks, official-oshmicial.

What to do about the strange turns of bad luck she had whenever Wyvern was around though...

With a practiced smile, she took the application of the next Initiate wanna-be and neatly annotated the arrival time in a ledger before moving it to the Elder's desk.

She needed a plan. And a donut-shaped cushion to sit on.

Yes. . .that she did Orlan m'dear.

(Naked as ever, Tzimfemme drapes herself lazily over a couch in the sitting room, supine, leafing through a Men of Terra magazine.)

The Lounge Lizard of Terra, and she labeled you a 'hippie'.

(They eye one another, sparing only a moment for the mandatory ogling, before Tzimfemme springs to her feet and follows Orlan's decisive footsteps out of the office.)
