  3. Taleena woke up in the middle of the night to a sharp pain, like the one she'd felt earlier, but much stronger. Much more urgent. They're coming, she realised, turning to wake Zeldon. He saw the look in her eyes, and rose quickly, leaving in minutes to fetch the doctor. It wasn't common for the doctor to be fetched for births after the first, but this labour was early, worringly so. And they came quickly. It seemed the doctor had barely arrived, before Taleena's water broke, and she was being urged to push through the fogging pain. And then, it was over. The pain soon forgotten as Taleena's newborn twins - a boy and a girl - were placed in her arms. Zeldon lay next to her, wonder in his eyes as he looked at his children, the triplets clamoring to see their new siblings. Taleena smiled tiredly at her family, enjoying the moment of tranquil peace. So few moments these days... Long after everyone had fallen back to sleep, Taleena stayed awake, her thoughts haunting her. By early dawn, her restlessness got the better of her, and she snuck out of bed to go for a walk. The hoofbeats came upon her quickly, and Taleena barely had a chance to react at all. The last thought that passed through her mind before the wolves descended was relief that all of her children were safe for now...and a longing hope that Zeldon would not give up. There was a brief moment of pain. Then darkness. And as the sun rose on the Calla, another body was found. Say thankya. OOC: Tanny/Taleena was a Villager. Day phase. Cast your votes...
  4. Object 6: The Comb The comb was bubblegum pink, with a star shaped handle, and coated in enough glitter to choke a kitten. It had come as an accessory to the Barbie doll I gave her, and as soon as Ashley laid eyes on it, both the doll and the rest of her presents were utterly forgotten. Nevermind that the doll came with a playhouse, or that Gramma and Gramps had spent more money buying the matching remote controlled car than they’d ever spent on my birthday presents, as soon as little Ashley picked up the comb, the five year old refused to play with anything else. It was kind of cute, I suppose, and she did end up playing with the rest of her presents eventually, but jeez that comb never left her sight. I can’t recall the number of times my poor mum had to wash the glitter out of Ashley’s hair, and the entire house began to take on an odd shimmery effect by the time my sis was seven. I swear, that comb never ran out of glitter to shed. It was like it bred it, or something. I remember my high school graduation. Ashley was twelve by then, and the comb was missing some of its prongs, but she still carried it with her. I was giving my valedictorian speech, and Ashley was deliberately trying to distract me by getting the sunlight to catch off the glitter that coated the comb, her hair, her clothes, poor Mum’s jacket… When I was living at college, my mum would send me letters every week or so, mostly about nothing, but the contact was nice. The first summer, I stayed on campus, but when I came back for Christmas, I found that my darling little sister had decided to become a moody Goth. She tried to act all tough, like she was too cool to spend time with her ‘nerdy older brother’, but one night after she’d come home from seeing a movie with her friends, I noticed a very familiar comb hanging off her bag, its glitter imposing on the superficial angst. It’s funny how often the smaller gifts, the ones that seem insignificant, are often the ones that aren’t. Eventually, Ashley stopped carrying the comb with her, got rid of the Goth image, grew up…but that comb kept turning up at the strangest of times. When I got married, Mum told me afterwards that Sharon hadn’t been able to find something old or borrowed, so Ashley had pulled the comb out of her jewellery box and given it to Sarah to put in her clutch purse. I thought her dress looked glittery that night. We kind of fell apart not too long after that. I was working in the city, and Ashley had graduated and started travelling overseas, working as a freelance journalist of all things. She only just made it back in time for Dad’s funeral, and completely missed the birth of my daughter. She sent a gift though, and once I saw it I didn’t have the heart to be annoyed that she wasn’t there in person. She’d given little Sally a teddy bear. With her comb tucked into its paws.

  6. The ka-tet awoke early to the sounds of angry voices - an all too common occurance in the Calla, it seemed. Rising quickly, they made their way to the town square, where they saw a gallows being erected. "Roland..." Eddie spoke with a hint of warning in his voice. But when they saw it was Freedrick beging dragged to his fate, the threat lost its weight. It didn't seem possible that a folken of the Manni would forge an alliance with the wolves...but Freedrick had kept so much to himself that they couldn't be sure. Maybe it was possible. The ka-tet watched from the top of the hill as yet another folken from the Calla was hung. Roland's jaw clenched, as he watched Freedrick twitching on the end of the rope. The rest of his tet watched him quietly, wanting to question him, but knowing the look in his face was not one that invited conversation. Before any of them could utter a word, and as the Calla-folken began to shift away from the gallows and go about their morning rituals, Roland of Gilead turned on his heel and stalked off into the woods. Eddie looked from Susannah to Jake, suspecting that the helplessness he felt was the same he saw on their faces. It seemed ka was refusing to let their journey to the Tower continue in peace. OOC: Panther/Freedrick was a Villager. Night phase. Wolves, PM me.
  7. There's going to be a slight delay of one or two hours tonight as I won't be home at 7.30 (which is when the phase ends). Thats about 5 and a half hours from now, but let's say the phase will end in 6.5-7 hours time...
  8. We seem to be losing our specials rather quickly. Let's see if the 'luck' continues to the wolves... 9. The ka-tet sat around their small campfire outside Callahan's home, brooding over the day's events. Roland stared into the flames, face closed from any interpretation. Jake busied himself stroking Oy's fur, the billy-bumbler's head resting in his lap. Susannah's thoughts were a mix of both the here and now, and her own problems. But it was Eddie who spoke first. "We should have stopped them," he looked up at Roland. "We shouldn't have let them hang him." The gunslinger took a long time to respond, but eventually he stirred. "To what end, Eddie? Had we stopped them and the wolves come again, they would have accused us." "We could have handled things," Eddie growled. "And killed even more innocents? No, sai. We need to learn more about these wolves, and the townsfolk aiding them," he looked up then, piercing Eddie with his eyes. "We cannot interfere yet." "Why not?" "ka." "More like ka-ka," Eddie snorted, turning his gaze away. Jake looked up then and shared the barest hint of a smile with Roland. Their debate was disturbed suddenly by a panicked cry from the other side of the house. The ka-tet had barely gotten to their feet, when they spied Bene running away from the house and into the woods, crying in fear. Eddie was already too familiar with Bene's fits - the boy reminded him too much of his past self - that he was ready to leave the boy to his hallucinations. But then there were hoofbeats. Roland stayed long enough to bark a command: "Spread out and mind me!" before he took off, running after Bene. Eddie, Jake and Oy left Susannah by the fire and ran off, Eddie to one side of the house, Jake and Oy to the other. Bene continued to run, crying to himself in fear. Not me not me why after me why I didn't do anything why why why didn't see them didn't know. Somehow he knew this time that it wasn't just the drugs talkng. The hoofbeats grew louder, almost on top of him. Stumbling on a rock, Bene fell. Looking behind him, he saw the wolf's face, snarling, as a glowing stick of light descended towards his head... Roland found the boy's body first, head separated from the rest, the stink of charred flesh in the air. He saw a horse galloping away, judged this light and distance, before giving it up with a weary sigh. They would be back, without a doubt. Oy caught up to Roland first, chuffing softly as he ran. He stopped at the gunslinger's side, looked at the body, and lifted his head in a howl. As more people began to wake and venture out of their houses, Oy uttered only one more statement; "ka-ka." Roland nodded, stroking the bumbler's head as he crouched by the body. "ka-ka," he agreed. OOC: Merelas/Bene was the Seer. It is now Day Phase. Cast your votes.
  10. Just a quick note after a question I received... PM exchanges are fine, on the conditions that I get a cc of every conversation with anyone else, and that you don't form PM based alliances. I'm happy for a PM giving someone an IC reason to not vote for them, but not for "hey! if we team up we can kill bob!" Basically, cc everything to me and if I have a problem, I'll let you know

  14. It's officially Night Phase. 24 hours. Specials, PM me.
  15. OOC: Finnius/Luke was your Baner. Better luck next time. Night phase. Props to Finnius for writing this post.
  16. Pretended your food was still alive and making crying noises as you ate it, just to scare the wait staff? Spent more than five minutes listening to someone muttering and wondering who it is, only to realise that it's you? Predicted an entire scene of dialogue in a soap opera?
  17. YAY! A VOTE! Just letting you all know that you have about 6 or so more hours to post...Give or take depending how my evening goes Also, I've changed the name of the game thread to 'WereWolves of the Calla' because it was confusing the hell out of me... Happy hunting!
  18. I found this...not sure if it's what you already found but it might help? Glossary
  19. Before too long, after meeting most of the Calla-folken, darkness fell, and the ka-tet moved to the hall for a welcoming banquet. The premonition came true all too quickly.Roland had just finished dancing the Commala, the sweat gleaming on his face as the folken banged on their tables and cheered. For a moment, everything seemed perfect. Normal. Safe. The sound of hoofbeats broke that. Almost as one, the Calla-folken froze, fear sweeping across all the faces of those old enough to remember what they meant. Roland stiffened, eyes hardening as his left hand went to his holster. Eddie and Jake stood up while Susannah reached for her own gun. Oy let out a single, sharp bark. The hoofbeats continued, circling around the hall, filling the space with their pounding. "We had a moon!" Tian cried, standing up and seeking out Andy, standing in the back of the room. "Curse you, you said we had at least a moon!" With that, he ran out of the hall, his wife crying out a protest as a number of men joined him. Eddie made move to follow but was halted as Roland called his name sharply. He looked at his leader, protest in his eyes. "We are no good to them dead, Eddie. Mind me," Roland spoke softly, below the muttering of the crowd. The muttering increased to chaos as a yell was heard from outside, followed by a scream. Then they moved. Even Susannah began to drag herself along, following the Calla-folken outside. The handicap giving her time to think as she moved. Time to realise that the hoofbeats were fading. She finally arrived at the scene and moved her way to the centre of the circle. Zalia knelt, sobbing over Tian's body, his neck twisted at an unnatural angle. "That was warning for you, sais," a cheery voice piped up behind the group. As one, the Calla-folken and the ka-tet turned to look at the ever smiling face of Andy. "It would be best for you gunslingers to leave us, do ya ken. The wolves do not wish interference. The wolves will not be stopped." The robot fell silent then, bar his random clicks and whirls. "I do think," Roland spoke softly, yet was heard by all, "that there are informants amongst us." OOC: First official day phase. Players, cast your votes and accusations. See OOC thread for more information.
  20. Ok we're having some HEAVY rain here atm which is murder on the net connection so if I don't get the phase posted within an hour of this post, expect it within about 12 hours...I hope... Edit: WOO! Got the post up. Now just need to send out roles. Expect PMs, all of you. Now, the basics. Day phase will last approx. 48 hours, and Night phase 24. There are 2 wolves, a seer, and a baner. The wolves are folken who, through means not yet known, are trading names with the Calla wolves in what they hope is exchange for the safety of their kin. The seer will just be an accidental spy - spotting folken at things they shouldn't be doing. The baner, a similar scenario, delaying those from getting to where they need to be to pass on information. You don't need a justifiable reason to lynchvote, but please include an OOC statement to make it clear. Let the games begin! Come-come-commala...

  22. Roland eyed the man at his feet, took in the bruising on his knuckles, the wrinkles of scowling on his face, and shook his head to himself. Too violent. Too impulsive. He had forgotten the face of his father. He was not a Gunslinger. But that did not mean he was too far gone to redeem himself. "Our ka-tet is not for joining, sai Travis, for we are bound by a higher need." Roland touched Travis on the shoulder as an encouragement to rise, noting the protest beginning to form on his lips. "You have forgotten the face of your father," the Gunslinger continued. "Remember it, and I can help set you on your path. But your ka does not lead to the Tower." Roland held Travis' gaze until he looked away and moved away from the crowd. The Gunslinger nodded to himself. There was potential beneath that anger...somewhere. Finding it would be half the task.
  23. Game Thread Here we go... 48 hour mock day phase to get things running I will be explaining the last of the rules and handing out roles after this phase
  24. OOC: The introduction phase begins. This first day phase will enable you to introduce yourselves to the ka-tet before the evening feast that I will use to start the game officially. The ka-tet is made up of: Roland Deschain: Last Gunslinger of Gilead, Mid-World. The first two fingers on his right hand are missing, but he shoots just as quick with his left. Eddie Dean: From our New York of the When of 1987. He wields Roland's other gun. Susannah Dean: From our New York of the When of 1964. Married to Eddie, confined to a wheel chair after an accident in our where left her legs cut off at the knee. Jake Chambers: A boy from our New York of the When of 1977. Adopted son of Roland, he has seen far too much for an eleven year old. Oy: A billy bumbler (a kind of badger cross with a dog), found in Mid-World during the ka-tet's travels. Undyingly loyal to Jake. Characteristic of his kind, can mimic human speech to a certain degree. Meet them, greet them, and don't fear about making mistakes, there are enough here who have read the books who can help.Day phase will end in 48 hours...
  25. Either that, or I refused to believe either of them was right Have you ever woken up covered in scratches and/or bruises and been utterly unable to figure out where they came from?
