The Pen is Mightier than the Sword

Before Silver arrived.

As the day broke Silver awoke with a sudden start. She knew she had heard something this time. Slowly rising to her feet she took a look around her. Off to her right she noticed movement. Who was it? She had figured that running through the woods would be less conspicuous than flying over the forest. Watching the place where she had seen the movement she slowly started backing away from her small camp. As she retreated she saw another figure dart from where she was looking to another tree close by. Then she began to pick out other figures off behind the first slowy advancing on her.

They have found me, she thought.

As that thought crossed her mind she turned and ran. Behind her she heard the sound of pursuit. Her mind raced along with her feet. She knew that she was faster than them, she had outrun them once already, but was she to be on the run forever? The idea came to her that since she wasn't going to lose them for long she might as well break down and fly she could escape them for a while that way. If she could get away again for awhile then at least she could choose the location of their encounter.

Pulling off her cloak as the trees rushed by she spread her wings and took to the air. She rose higher and higher. Shortly she was above the trees and looking to see if she could find the road. Searching the ground back the way she had come she saw a small path leading through the forest. She swiftly flew to where it was. To her surprise it was the road.

Flying swiftly, keeping the road in sight, she made her way along hoping that she would find the end of the forest and maybe a place where she could find some help.

(This is to write off my Weenie award. Hopefully this is enough. If I get enough resposes I shall continue to write this tale.)

She flew on till her wings could carry her no longer. As she began her slow descent into the woods she thought she saw the edge of the forest on the horizion. The small glade that she found herself in at midday seemed peaceful enough. Surveying the area she noticed a small stream running through it. Keeping a wary on on the forest around her she bent to take a quick drink from the stream. When she had drank her fill she found a relatively concealed spot on the edge of the glade to rest for a while.

The sun had sunk a little in the west and silver decided that it was time to put a little more distance between her and her pursurers. Rising slowly to her feet she carefully scanned the glade to see if there was anyone around. Creeping her way out she finally made it to the middle of the glad.

Taking to wing she rose above the trees. Hovering for a moment to get her bearings she headed for what looked to be the edge of the forest. She figured that she should be able to make it there my evening if nothing happened to impeed her progress.

(Sorry for the short post but it is late, will write more when it is not so late in the evening.)

  • 1 month later...

The light grew short as Silver finally came to the edge of the forest. Landing lightly she decided to rest where she was for the evening.

The first rays of dawn woke her from her slumber. Slowly stretching her weary muscles she took to wing to learn what lay ahead of her.

Rising above the trees she saw a small town. Already the bustly of the day could be saan in the community beyond the forest. Landing once again at her nigths camp site she retrieved her belongings from the ground. After rummaging through her pack for a few moments she found her cloak and donned it. There is no need for the people of the town to be frightned by my wings. she thought to herself. Setting out towards her new destination she was filled with a new sense of hope that everything would work out this time.

The sun was becoming unbearable as Silver entered the town. Walking along the main road she found the first establishment that looked hospitable and walked through the double doors that provided an entrance. As she entered the room she noticed that it was a rather well off crowd that had gathered in the common room. Scanning the room she foudn a solitary table in a remote corner and asked the first serving girl she saw to bring her a drink and a hot meal. Walking across the room to her desired table every eye in the room followed her. Turning to watch the door the talk once again resumed in the room. She was use to recieving the reaction that she had for her appearance was uncommon enough without the wings showing.

ooc: There will be more later if anyone cares to read it but it is getting late and I am about to veg. out in front of the tv.
