  1. As Annael leaves dragonqueen's tent Gryphon holds back the flap for her with a slight bow, then enters the tent himself... Bowing again to dragonqueen he deposits the required 5 Geld on the table and speaks: "Seer, may I have a reading? I have been speaking with my friends and they are impressed with thee... It is through them that I know what to do". With an indication of permission from dragonqueen Gryphon shuffles the cards with reverance stopping when it just feels right and divides them into the 4 piles - left to right - and waits politely.
  2. I dont know much about the book though I do know the author - you might have to get confirmation of this from Mynx, but at a guess it'd be either the demon possession or religious themes in the book that would mark it as controversial. What little I do know says it'll probably be the religious themes (rabid believers may have issues?) We'll see what Mynx says when she gets online.
  3. 'tis dragonqueen, to be sure, marvelous raven, give us more?
  4. Gryphon wanders up to the signup sheet wondering at the faint burning smell in the air... Reading over the list of names he smiles seeing several of the people he has met in and around The The Pen listed. Suddenly with a moment of paniced realisation he realises that he has no idea where Mynx has gone to - or where she might be lurking with her scythe. Shortly thereafter there is nothing but the sound of running feet and a feather floating to the ground to indicate that Gryphon might have even been considering rousing the wrath of a Mynx.
  5. I cant analyse this, I'm not qualified and I dont have the necessary skills. But I can tell you how I respond on an emotional level to it: I feel a remembered pain on reading what you've written - I share the emotion contained in the words, and selfishly (regrettable I know), I hope for my own heart and yours that this is a set of feelings that I never have to encounter again. I daresay everyone will experience something like this once, it is my hope that we all find someone to be so happy with that we never have to experience it again.
  6. Note one last thing - while I realise that haiku has a certain established form and metre it is the feeling of the moment that I count as important so feel free to use a varient of the traditional haiku form to capture your moment perfectly Here's my first one, just to get the ball rolling: Wyvern suspended A ball flies straight and true Splash!
  7. In finer print just to the side of the entrance is the following: This is not a place of competition haikus or anything such as Mr Bunny's I just wanted to create a place of rememberance - a shrine if you will to my first carnival at The Mighty Pen. The way it's supposed to work is as follows - It is said that a master of haiku can capture an instant in the words of a haiku so that the reader can feel as if they were there experiencing the moment themselves. I dont ask that everyone become haiku masters, all I ask is that you step inside the tent help yourself to a piece of paper and try your hand at haiku'ing a moment of the carnival that meant something to you or amused you or just plain caught your eye. After the carnival is over and long gone I'd like members of the Pen, guests and other visitors to be able to stop by and relive part of the fun in a nutshell. For this reason there is no charge to this booth. Please step inside, jot down some words and leave a moment of time preserved forever inside when you exit again.
  8. Just up the row of stalls from Mr Bunny's Carrot Stand and Happy Haiku Hut another stall begins to form out of thin air... Some of the unoccupied stalls on either side of it come to life and hop out of the way to make a bit of room as a small run-down tent appears in the gap formed by their departure. A sign appears over the entrance to the tent: Gryphons Haiku Shack! earns five geld for participation
  9. Hours later Gryphon sits, still fidgeting in the recruitment office, certain that it'd be bad manners to leave before his application to join had been reviewed... Gryphon mutters to himself: "Blast my timing - there might be no-one by here until the end of the carnival and I did so want to go enjoy some of that" Suddenly he goes silent, a look of glee passing across his face, chased closely by intense concentration... magic begins to gather and pool in a small silvery ball like shape that hangs at the perfect height for a sitting Gryphon to stare into it. Slowly inside the twisting ball of magic a scene takes place - one that perfectly mymics the carnival outside the walls of the recruitment office. Reaching out with a claw Gryphon prods the ball of magic several times creating a dark spot in the middle of the image where the booths are and then he wills the magic to fill it with a booth of his own desire and creation... Outside in the carnival a new tent starts to take form mimicing the magic... OOC: gotta leave this thread to go create a booth now... it's so tricky trying to be in two places at once!
  10. Bounds up on Quincunx's heals and shoves another scrap of paper into the jar, it reads: Don't ever say yes if a lady asks you "do I look fat in this" Gryphon winks at Dean and then bounds off.
  11. After waiting for Wyvern to look in on his office for an hour or so the waiting Gryphon sighs in frustration... "Should have known by the state of this office that I'm in for a long wait... Still I do wonder what's happened to the Almost Dragon that runs this joint." Calling back his display of glowing dancing lights Gryphon starts to mutter to them in a low chanting tone: "Bring to me news, the whispers in the wind, the light, the fun, the laughter, on this little spell I send. Show me the whereabouts, of the one I seek, where's the almost dragon, when he's not here in his seat?" The glowing balls spin faster and faster as the small chant takes place and a picture begins to formulate in the air before the eyes of the fascinated Gryphonic watcher. Shortly thereafter a surprised yell escapes from Gryphon's mouth as a water balloon drops out of nowhere on top of his head having been brought accidentally and unasked for by his spell. Meanwhile the images in the air show Wyvern perched on a seat above the water in the dunking booth as Katzaniel prepairs to throw what appears to be a spear... Not wanting to get the spear coming unasked also Gryphon dismisses the magic now at least knowing why Wyvern hasn't appeared in answer to his application yet.
  12. Soaring in the cloudless skys above The Pen watching the goings on at the carnival Gryphon decides to try his hand at another impressive entrance - one has to keep in practice after all... Closing his wings he begins to dive aiming to land in a clear spot near the tavern. Feeling the wind wrapping its self around his body like a comfortable cloak he plumets towards the ground at high speeds, waiting, waiting for just the right moment to open his wings and land gracefully... With a crack Gryphon opens his wings and hangs, momentarily suspended in the air before landing posed outside the tavern's door. Lovely entrance - it's a shame no-one is around to see it... oh well, blame the carnival. Wandering inside Gryphon notes the lack of patrons, everyone being off enjoying the carnival he approaches the recruitment office and tries to open the door... it moves a fraction then sticks! Throwing his weight against the door it moves another fraction before sticking again. Looking around to be sure that no-one is watching he casts a complicated bit of magic and grows insubstantial then fades from sight. Moments later Gryphon fades back into view inside the recruitment office and gazes around in amazement at all the paperwork littering the room. "Wow, Wyvern's not been in *here* for a while... probably caught up down at the carnival." Strolling over to the large (also paper covered) desk Gryphon extracts a piece of parchment from a small pouch and lays it on the top of a tall stack of paper, on it is one line: I'd like to apply to join please - Gryphon. Sitting back down to watch the door Gryphon waits to see how Wyvern gets into his office when the door is obscured by clutter and paperwork... To amuse himself while he waits Gryphon creates illusionary dancing glowing lights and sends them to seek out oddities in Wyverns office.
  13. My muse is like a summer shower - it comes out of nowhere, douses me with inspiration and then vanishes as quickly as it came... Then the inspiration dries up in the sunshine that remains leaving me waiting for more inspiration to come along. ed: Sometimes I do have to sit around for a while waiting for some inspiration to drop... maybe I should try a rain dance?
  14. Gryphon stops browsing the booths and wanders back by the Kissing Booth to see who's there. Seeing a momentary gap in the vast numbers gathering around the booth Gryphon walks over and drops 5 Geld in the jar before surveying those behind the booth with his head cocked to one side... Before she can object he leans in and gives Mynx a gentle nibbling kiss on her neck then bounds off in case she decides to bring her scythe into play looking very pleased with himself.
  15. Writing can be (I suspect) a different thing for each person who does it. It's possible to plan everything you write, work through a storyline, if something goes wrong you can go back to your plan and re-work the story... Others people just let the words flow onto the page as though they have a life of their own. I say find the way that works for you. When I have a character inside my mind for a story I let go and write as that character. Sometimes it doesn't work, but often enough the words just flow directly from my character to the screen through my fingers on the keyboard. That could be because my characters are part of me... know thyself.
  16. A small black dot that has been circling far above the kissing booth watching the goings on begins to rapidly get larger as Gryphon goes into a steep dive out of the air... At the last moment his wings snap open with a sharp crack and a massive downdraft of air as his sudden descent is stopped and he gently lands in front of the booth in a posed landing. Looking around to see who witnessed his wonderful landing he notices the booth is slightly the worse for wear from the winds created by his wings and the booth occupants are all staring at him with their hair all over the place. Looks very embarrassed, ah sorry... here let me help fix that... Gryphon casts some minor repair cantrips to set the stall to rights while the ladies straighten themselves up, then still feeling bashful at the near distruction he caused Gryphon walks over to look at the nearby booths browsing where he can continue to watch the activity at the kissing booth a while longer.
  17. To Salinye: "Thank you again for your welcome wizardess of the bright court, if it is the will of all that we should join in and be part of the festivities then indeed we shall." To Peredhil: Thank thee also for thy welcome sir. OOC: Guido and Nuncio? Linked in any way to the characters from M.Y.T.H? The ex-mob enforcers I wonder
  18. Greetings Salinye, it is indeed good to know that one is welcome hereabout, it's been a long while since I had time, inclination or invitation to write, we shall see what I remember, and no doubt, what I have forgotten. Rest assured you'll see me around, we shall see as time goes on - perhaps it shall be that for a while I will make The Pen my home.
