  1. WooHoo....Ya'll are FABULOUS. Looks fantastic in Firefox. Clean and pretty and shiny new!!!

I shall endeavor to keep my room tidy here at the Keep. And no, not by simply disappearing for long stretches of time, either.

    Woot Woot!

Now to catch up on some reading!

  2. The old man continues to stare over Ozy's shoulder at the brightness of the stars and nightglow as he takes in a deep breath, and let's out a long, satisfied sigh.

After several moments, he bows his head then shrugs his shoulder, and in the blink of an eye, anyone who happened to be looking his way notices the robes on the old man shimmer from the ratty deep brown to a deep, dark blue with small glittering jewels dancing all over the luxurious material. Even the old man's hat seems to firm up and brighten (darken? :P ) to join the rest of his outfit in sparkling splendor.

"Oh Great One, it is with pride that I carry forth this new title conveyed to me by the Masters of the Pen. I shall do my best not to stumble too often..." .

ooc: WooHoo....nice job Ozy, and congratulations to ALL the ..... ummm.......graduates! A hearty congrats goes out to all the New Elders of the Pen. It is obvious to a lot more than just a couple of crusty "old" Elders, that you guys are an intregal part of the Pen and therefore deserve to share in it.

The Old Man stands up, removing his now TALL hat, releasing a rush of very wavy, long white locks with a slight thinning in the back, and bows deeply to each and every promotee, then steps forward to shake everyones hands and give congratulatory thumps on the backs of those gathered. Finally, he steps over to the Loremaster, reaches out an open palm, smiling up to the great Egyptian, and when Ozymandius grasps his hand in friendship, GeldrinHor just slowly pumps it a few times, then mumbles thank you to his friend and Mentor.

    Once again, CONGRATULATIONS everyone!!!

  3. I seem to go thru periods where I don't write much, even for enjoyment purposes, so my postings here in the Pen might get erratic. But I DO take the time, after reading stories, letters, poems, what have you, to consider if I have anything useful to say. I Reply to posts often.

I truly enjoy THINKING....and sometimes during the thought process, a wonderful idea will sprout, and I will begin writing.

Recently, due to my complete abhorrence to Microsoft software, and most especially to it's Word/WordPad programs, I found a Writer's software put out by another Author (Anyone know who SpaceJock is?) called YWriter.

It helps organize ideas and save story/storyline/chapter, page and paragraph. It has editing tools with it as well. Just a thought for those of you trying to work up a novel-sized story.

Anywho...felt like expanding on the writer some.

    That's ME.

  4. Inspired by personal life, and of course, a bit of warm evening jazz.

Thoughts very welcome, as always. As well, thoughts on a title would be welcome as well. It's a great oppertunity to add something very slight to the work, but I'm not sure exactly what. "An Epistle to-something" is what I'm thinking, but An Epistle to Love is just tooooooooooo mushy/cliche for it.

Enjoy, and sorry I haven't been kicking around lately, it's been a pretty busy life for me lately! Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend!

    - Justin

Perhaps not SO mushy, if you chose a few more words to accompany it...

My Epistle to Love Lost and Found

    OR

    A catchier title:

Lost and Found: An Epistle to Love

    :)

    Excellent work, by the way

I think overall, this is a wonderful, if somewhat short tale, in poetic setting. Clearly your words are meant to evoke a feeling of accomplishment within the reader, but it also seems you were confused, yourself, at the stuttered end....roll it around a few times in your head with the altered ending....see what you think.:)

  6. Have a Holly Jolly CHR....err, no, that's not it.

    For he's a jolly good fel....Oh rats...not that either.

    Let's see....Mary had a little .....nope.....

    Ah HA.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Reverie, Happy Birthday to you!!!!!!!!

"Now where did I put that paddle....swats are for birthdays, right? hmmmmm....THERE it is....now just bend over slightly there lad, this won't hurt a bit...."

With that, the old Bard leans forward slightly, testing his swing with the awkward tool of corporal punishment, errr, well wishes, and begins to approach the Poet at his table.

Suddenly, from seemingly nowhere, and tiny blur comes directly into his path, knocking the old wizard backward into a table of giggling Pennites. Just as suddenly, the little blur stops, and everyone sees Minta holding onto the paddle that was, just moments earlier, held in the hand of GeldrinHor.

As the little girl begins to stroll out of the room, if you listen carefully, you hear her mumbling,

    "I'll call you SPIKE....my zombie swatter....yeaaaaaaah!"

    Happy Birthday there, Poet. :innocent:

  7. WOW...my head must REALLY be in the clouds, to have missed an Almost Dragon's birthday celebration.

I feel absolutely terrible, but enough wallowing in self-pity...Happy (very belated) Birthday, you scaly bastiche!

And you can have my next 4 postings worth of Geld as a Gift, knowing how much you simply ADORE money!!

Hoping your whole 24th year goes as well as the first day of it.

  8. Wooooooooooooot....**does a standing backflip in cheering for Reverie** Way To GO, Brother!!!!

**returning to a more dignified stance** Really, Rev, a deep and hearty congratulations on your Honors course. You have OBVIOUSLY worked hard to earn it!

  9. I have to agree with Patrick on this. Excellent start and good placeholding for the continuations. Other than a few gaffes in punctuation/grammar and spellings, extremely good storyline.

In the early part of this last installment, I believe you made a big mistake calling the character "Carl" when referring to "Josh", but otherwise, the story carries along quite nicely. Please do continue.

    :)

  10. Patrick...in the US, Hall & Oates was a duo who sang what, by todays standards, might be considered Easy Listening (ala James Taylor, Sawyer Brown, or maybe more eclectic british groups...softer music than say Derrek and the Dominoes (Eric Clapton was AWESOME then) but along the lines of Abba, Heart, or their peers).

AND....in the US, while DISCO was dying, we got some GREAT music out of the strangest places.

Think about Wild Cherry (Play that Funky Music, White Boy). And then there were solo artists like the great Billy Joel, Elton John.....Music at nearly it's purist....great music by a great many artists.

Great Rock bands of the Era included Kansas, Journey, Foreigner, Queen.

    Lots of great Music.

  11. If all these things don't help (as well as they should, at least) perhaps it is time for the most drastic of measure.

Watch "The Music Man" and try to get ALL the words to 76 Trombones!

Watching any Gilbert and Sullivan or Rodgers and Hart musicals should help too.

Oh...and if it's any consolation....I really don't care for musicals....Lil LOVES em, but I could do without em pretty easily....:)

Oh....I got Lil hooked on "24": last night when I finally got her to sit down and watch the first 4 episodes from Season 1.....now she is like "can we go and get the next two disks?" it was 12:20 am when she uttered these words....LOL.

Hey...MAYBE that would work...yeah....get the full Season 1 "24" show and watch ALL the episodes over a two to three day period. VERY distracting and a great mood buster.

    :)

Just doing my part to shatter the great beast, Writer's Block!

Your Knight in faded silk, as his armor is too rusty to wear now!

  12. WooHoo...Road Trip!

Enjoy your time out there, and enjoy the feeling of love that you go to share. And when the time to go home arrives, just remember, you have family waiting for you right here!

Well, I'll be sitting in the morning sun, watching the birds fly off to Neverland, and the children of Gods will walk the Earth for a while, until you return home to me. Then, and only then, can we bottle the fairy tales once more, to share with our kith and kin. - Kathigan Mauritas, Congo Republic 1977
