Oath of Fury, Pledge of Serenity

A Declaration to Divinity

I can feel the fury!

So let surge Your strength,

And I shall die for mine.

Bring forth all that is greater than I!

Wipe me out, I beseech thee,

Let my passions live on for themselves!

My cause needs no savior but itself,

And in my deliverance I see it shall survive.

So bring onward Your greatness against me!

Pour down the rains of oppression,

Set the winds of authority across the land,

Conjure the clouds of supremacy

In Your endless sky of omnipotence.

Force ahead the strong arm of Your lighting

And the commanding cry of thunder’s bellow.

What do You have that I could not denounce?

What can the world present to a lowly slave?

Wealth? Power? Strength? Knowledge?

Ha! I laugh at these things You know You have.

These superficial trifles that are the blessings of perfection.

For me - shoes and clothes in the walk of Life.

Strip me of them, and I will grow cold,

But persevere.

Bribe me with them, and I will wear them,

(For I do not deny your muscle)

But not for long,

For I am imperfect;

Grown to know that such clothing

Won’t help me walk.

Anger? Fear? Confidence? Love?

Ha! I laugh at these things you claim to bestow.

These carefully crafted masquerades for weaker hearts.

For me – You ask a trade I will not give.

You can not take what is already given me,

By a Greater Power.

Bribe me with them, and I’ll catch a glimpse,

(For I do not deny your perseverance)

And see deception,

For I am imperfect;

Grown to know that golden roads

Are paved with anguish.

Do You think that your span compromises me?

That the world’s strength can destroy my cause?

You are great,

And the world’s powers are Irrefutable.

But I am mortal,

And serve a greater cause than You.

The fury of Humanity is insurmountable:

Immortal in its rage’s rule.

You are great,

And the world’s powers are Undeniable.

But I am mortal,

And carry a greater strength than You

The serenity of Humanity is magnificent:

Immortal in its calm’s countenance.

It is great,

And Passion’s powers are Almighty.

For I am mortal,

And am blessed with an immortal gift.

I embrace Humanity’s endowment,

Fear, Hatred, Humility, Pride, Love.

And do not deny the world’s greatness,

Mourning only the acceptance of Your counterfeits,

And only when they steal mortal graces,

And destroy mortal body, and injure mortal soul.

But, I am also graced with clothes,

Knowledge, Strength, Patience, Wealth, Wisdom.

And will grow neither hot nor cold,

As best a mortal man can, (though we both

Know that mortal clothes are fleeting)

Toward Your temptation and greatness.

But I feel the serenity.

So let live Your strength,

And I shall live for mine.
