Snypiuer Posted May 21 Report Posted May 21 I'm just going to mention what I, personally, think of this tv series without actually talking about it so that I don't spoil it for anyone watching it. O.K., been watching Wheel of Time on Prime and I do NOT remember, when I read the books, hoping that someone . . . ANYONE, would just kill Nynaeve al'Meara - like, just kill her . . . please. Now it's been years since I read the books, so I could be mistaken about how she was portrayed in them. I just know that the tv version of her makes the perfectly healthy guy cowering in a corner and begging you to save HIS life (instead of the unconscious individual you're struggling to carry) during a Kobayashi Maru psychosimulator test, not only look fearless, but a true man of action and unwavering strength. Just saying. Like I mentioned, it's been years since I read the series (which I read over, something like, 23 years because that's about how long it took to be completed), but the tv version is clearly different and, while any tv adaption of a book will have differences for obvious reasons (time constraints, production limitations, monetary, etc.), this series deviates enough from the source material that even I, with my glitchy memory, notices it. Don't get me wrong, had I not read the books I would say the tv series is great, and it is, but having read the books the deviations from the source nag at me. That said, if you can look past and accept that certain changes are necessary to bring a book to screen, it's a passable adaptation - kill Nynaeve and I'd say it's an ASTOUNDING tv series loosely based on the Wheel of Time universe!
