  1. Take away everyone a person loves in a deliberate act would be like destroying their very core. They would be an empty shell of who they once were. The way you staged this question you would have created the perfect killing machine don't you think?

Revenge is not outside the realm of human responses. Trouble is you would forfeit your very soul. I would look long and hard but ultimately the only chance of a reunion with the ones I love would be lost and my enemy would have truly won in his attempt to ruin me.

Change the question to "Would you kill someone to protect the family you love?" The answer is simple. Yes I would.

  2. To everyone here at the pen on my own behalf I would like to say thank you. I was very surprised and quite pleased to find this out but I wasn't quite sure what it all means, so I did a little hunting and found this:

Page: Member who is still growing, developing, promoting, and proving their worth to the Pen.

I believe that each of us are doing just that. So with no further delay (and tongue firmly in cheek)

Thanks! From your new yellow pages!

Appy, Arwen, Doomgaze, Regel and Solivagus!

  3. "So Regel how have you enjoyed your stay so far here at the pen?" inquired the lady Ayshela. Regel paused as he finished filling Ayshela's glass and thought about what he was going to say. “I have enjoyed your party my lady." his smile was a well worn one deeply etched in his weathered face.

"I don't believe you quite answered my question Regel." replied Ayshela.

Regel looked at Ayshela and then dropped his eyes as he began to speak “In truth, I don't know how to answer the question my lady. I have met some very interesting and creative people. I have made some new friendships and renewed some old ones.'' "Do I hear a but in there?" asked Ayshela.

The pause was long enough to give Ayshela a taste of what eternity might be like. Regel’s voice was barely audible in the context of the great hall when he began “I have no idea what I am doing here. My role is unclear and my purpose uncertain.”

“Your role here and now is simply to enjoy yourself. Have something to eat and drink and then go mingle with my guests.” Lady Ayshela had some guest to greet and she smiled and left him there.

  4. I would also like to voice my approval. Thank you for being one of the first people (consistantly) to respond to a thread. The Fall Ball has been a wonderful diversion and a tremendous opportunity for newcomers such as myself to meet the various characters that populate the pen.

  5. Storm Clouds : A disturbance looking for a place to happen.

Alternate definition: Highly charged collection of condensed water vapours forming dark ominous shapes often discharging vast amounts of energy and accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall/hail.

  6. Peredhil was as good as his word and one by one he was introduced to many of the individuals that comprised The Pen. “Who is that Peredhil?” I asked pointing to a couple in one corner of the great hall. Peredhil answered “Ah that would be Tamaranis.” “Not the vampire P, the young woman.” I said. “Oh my of course, that is Salinye. They appear to be in conversation at the moment, remind me later and I will introduce you.” Replied Peredhil.

Mr. Bunny had extended me a polite greeting but I supposed that he might have sensed that I had often dined on such of his kind and our conversation ended quickly.

Peredhil must have been on a tight schedule because the introductions began to blur one into the other when finally he reintroduced me to the lovely hostess Ayshela.

“Excuse me for a moment Peredhil while I ask this lovely lady for a dance before someone else has the same thought.” I said and then ask Ayshela for a dance.

Ayshela was an excellent dancer and she matched me step for step. I watched her carefully as she gracefully moved across the dance floor. Such thoughtful eyes I thought to myself with a kind smile for me and an attentive glance now and then on the needs of her guests. Her gown flattered both her beautiful red hair and her figure. No sign of sadness on her face tonight. The music ended and the band took a break.

“Thank you my lady, for the dance and for hosting such a lovely social. Can I offer you refreshment?” and with that we walked over to the punch bowl.

  7. Regel's dance with WrenWind was wonderful. He barely spoke to her but his eyes rarely left hers. Something about her that seems so familiar. He closed his eyes for just a few moments and smelt her perfume. His heart quickened. She was so light on her feet that with his eyes closed she felt like a warm july breeze swirling around an apple orchard. The music ended too soon and it had not be lost to Regel that in his friend Wyvern was the cause of his good fortune. The look of dejection as Wyvern walked away was still on his mind. He looked at WrenWind and asked" Could I ask a favour of you my lady?" WrenWinds eyes brightened and smiling she answered "Certainly."

"I believe that Wyvern was just about to ask you for a dance when he accidently knocked you into me. If someone doesn't rescue him soon he will be into those beakers of concoctions he's brewed all night." She agreed and as Regel escorted her towards Wyvern he whispered " Perhaps you could save me the last dance."

"Wyvern, my old friend." Regel started "Could I ask a favour of you?" Wyvern looked up from his beaker and smiled "Certainly Regel ol' pal."

"The lady WrenWind is in need of a capable dance partner. I had asked Peredhil to introduce me around and I hated to leave this lovely young lady unescorted. Would you be so kind?"

Wyvern was so excited at the prospect he nearly leaped to his feet. "I will take good care of her Regel."

At that moment Peredhil had come up and grabbed my elbow. "Regel, forgive me for not doing this earlier. Let me introduce you to the nice people here at the pen."

With that the two friends made their rounds.

  8. Dear Peredhil,

The world can be a festering sore for some people. As I look around me in this world, I see so many people struggling for outside exceptance. Inner strength comes from the understanding that we are all god's creatures. That when no one else cares or loves us, god does. My self worth comes from that belief. When abuse came my way and someone knocked me down (verbally or physically) I didn't always have the strength to fight back, but I knew in my own mind it was wrong and that I did not deserve this treatment. My defiance came as a result of this knowledge that it wasn't my fault and that I have value. As a result I have been beaten, but never broken. I hope that those of you that read this understand that the evil in this world will attempt to directly assault this belief in order to break your spirit and control both your mind and body.

It saddens me to think of person who wrote this (cry for help) piece went unanswered. I understand that shock can turn people into statues. People do care but we aren't always the answer. That person needs to seek help first of all from within.

  9. “It would appear that the Devil Prince Mari has assembled an enormous army. It is said that they are moving against The Pen and will destroy their weapon of mass destruction.” the renegade wizard said. “The Pen has a weapon? What weapon could The Pen have that would worry Mari?” Regel asked. “Have they developed a rapid firing fountain pen perhaps?”

This was not an uncommon tactic Regel had to relax his men in tense moments, but his humour went unnoticed and the wizard continued without a smile. The clouds of concern were still clinging to his face as he spoke “The Portal is what they fear master. They believe that it will be used to lead a mass Exodus away from terra.”

Regel shook his head “What a waste of time. Destroying the portal will be a small inconvenience to the mages of The Pen. They will have another up and running in less than a fortnight.”

“Master Regel there will be no Pen!!! None of the mages will be left alive!! Mari’s army will outnumber the stars in the sky.” the renegade wizards pace had picked up again “We have reports coming from the camps of ChinaCat, Jacob and Druideen that this army is still pasting there camps.” Regel’s face went ashen “That’s impossible ChinaCat and Druideen’s camps are three days fast march apart. Their troops would number in the millions.” The renegade wizard simply nodded.

  10. "I was hoping to get you at arms length again this evening" Regel said with a smile "..but this will do."

Regel lifted WrenWind gently to her feet. The cascade of dark curls against the contrast of her skin was intoxicating. Regel badly need a drink but pushed the thought away. "Well then, would you care to dance with a stranger? It will allow me the opportunity to enjoy your beautiful gown without appearing to be staring."

WrenWind thought about for a moment and they said "Yes, I would like that."

  11. Terra was dying. The landscape had changed and the Exodus from terra had begun before the last Armageddon. Mari had left Terra a lawless place. The days of honour had passed and multi-mages ran Terra now. He had witnessed the Angel's oldest ally Kendrick lead the march away from Terra to Norrath, taking with him mages that he fought beside and grown to love. Dam him and his new addiction. Archmagers called it EverCrack. We lost Joat116 and Mistress SteelDragon to Lord Kendrick and EQ as well. The Legionnaires ship had sailed and any Legionnaires that remained were offered a home with The Angels of the Apocalypse. It was the coming of the end.

Fear of God was rendered useless and the bugs! The bugs had grown large enough to pull the carts that hauled away the dead. Plague had left Regel’s army in tatters and he would have to wait on turns before he could even begin to entertain the idea of rebuilding his once formidable army. Only one lone Red Dragon remained. Char was 300 years old and had been with Regel since he was a lad. He had been his father’s mount and his grandfather before that. He was all that had survived through the first ten hours of Armageddon.

A ragged renegade wizard came bursting into Regel’s tent. “Have you heard!” shouted the panting wizard. “Mari is staging an assault on The Pen!” A squabble had broken out between a Hydra and some sorry looking Salamander outside the tent. Regel was confused. Tempers were short and he had gone without sleep for far too long. Had he imagined what his wide eye soldier had just said? “Be quiet outside or I will pour some oils over both of you and have Char blow fire on you both!” roared Regel. “Say again and slow down.”Regel managed in a softer tone. "Take a seat, now what's this all about?"The wizard began again.

  12. "You are indeed a most generous person Lady Celes." Regel bows and stepped forward extending his hand. "It is a true pleasure to meet you. My name is Regel I am new here and waiting on Wyvern to recover and introduce me,.... well, let's just say I couldn't wait that long." Smiles were exchanged when suddenly a tall black cat approached Regel. He stopped and crouched down as the cat approached. It was hard to tell if the trill came from the cat or Regel but Cambronne responded in kind, he twirled around and rubbed his back and side against Regel's black tux. "It's a good thing I wore black." chuckled Regel as he gently scratch Cambronne under the chin.

  13. The conversation with Peredhil was extremely comforting. How many times had one of his serenity spells saved him from certain death? A sudden commotion in the ball room and suddenly Regel was distracted by the appearance of another old friend dressed up in what appeared to be a white robe Regel turns. A gentle nudge in Peredhil’s side was followed with this side comment, “Hey P, look who’s here.” Peredhil turned to see six feet of scales push a cart and conversing with the Lady Ayshela. One of Peredhil’s eyebrows raised but as always a smile soon crosses his face. A quick conference was held then a few minutes later the two friends both walked up and asked in unison “What’s up, doc!” They fell over each other in laughter. A confused looking Wyvern appeared to be momentarily lost for words but the started with “..but honestly guys I thought it was llab llaf!”
  14. In retrospect this poem was apply named. I learned quite a bit in the revision thanks to some wisdom gained from two friends. I'll invite you to take a second look if you'd like and comment on the revisions.

    Wisdom Gained

    Words are hard to fathom

    Feelings are understood

    Knowledge isn’t wisdom

    And hatred burns like wood.

The world is not a safe place

Our bodies are flesh and bone

And when we’re gone we are replaced

    Some sins can’t be atoned.

I learned pride comes before a fall

And remembered it when I fell

    Dilemmas are rarely too small

You don’t have to die to be in hell.

    Truth can be a weapon

Sometimes you lie to be a friend

    Humour isn’t always fun

    Beginnings always end.

Work is how some define themselves

My job is not who I am

    Faces all have certain tells

    My critics all be damned.
