  1. Milo looked over his shoulder for the fourth time in the past two minutes, then spun fully around, pretending a piece had caught his attention. He didn’t miss the look two of his helpers exchanged, though – it looked as though his cool façade was beginning to crack and show its paranoid, insecure undertones. Deciding it didn’t matter what they, or anyone else, thought, he walked back to the photograph that had caught his eye, finding that it actually was sort of interesting, in that ‘so bad it was good’ sort of way. He tilted his head to one side, then looked at the placard next to the image. Interesting. Not knowing what to make of this fellow or his work, he elected to have a smoke break and mull over matters outside. Security was being touchier than ever and arrogant as Milo was, he still didn’t think he could pull off any flagrant displays without getting thrown out on his ear. It was while he was pacing back and forth, cigarette in hand, that he noticed the spray painted tags that dominated the outer wall. Hadn’t this latest murder happened outside the gallery? /ooc voting for Mith/DC
  2. Milo had abandoned his cigarettes in favor of flipping a coin back and forth over his fingers; what had looked 'cool' yesterday would only be seen as a nervous weakness today. Someone had been murdered, and it wasn't a stretch to see why. Clearly there was vote tampering at work - why else would ballots be involved? Looking over his shoulder at his entourage, he pondered the possibilities. If someone wanted to win this competition that desperately, Milo believed they would have to kill him next; after all, he had to be the front runner. That was reason enough to be uncomfortable, but additionally Milo thought that someone might want to kill him out of pure jealousy, whether he was winning votes or not. Considering how brilliant he was, his death was practically a forgone conclusion. Paranoid or no, Milo thought he would avoid being alone today. How a horrible, freak murder of an innocent woman had been twisted in Milo's mind into being entirely about him, he couldn't have said, any more than the sun could explain why it was the center of the universe. Even if he couldn't articulate it, though, Milo knew, intuitively, that he was in terrible danger. At least he still had his looks. And if he died now, who knew how much his work might be worth? OOC: Edit - taking out my reasoning (at least until I get a handle on the rules :X). Sorry! My vote goes to Merelas - Jordan Mountjoy.
  3. Ignoring the ‘no smoking’ signs, Milo pulled out a slim cigarette out of a shiny chrome case and waited for one of the members of his entourage to offer a light. He could hear people scrambling behind him and graciously found something interesting to look at until a lighter could be produced. Finally someone succeeded in what he privately thought should be a relatively simple task, and he glided down the hallway, taking long, slow drags and blowing smoke toward the ceiling as he went. He never spoke a word to anyone, but every so often he would stop, bringing his followers to a screeching halt behind him, and snap his fingers before pointing at an individual who had in some way captured his attention. That was all the cue his ‘friends’ needed; someone in the party would inevitably scurry forward and offer up a business card with his name, and nothing else, printed neatly in the center. Just four little letters, but that card signaled his approval, and Milo thought there was nothing more important than his good opinion of the people at this little gathering. Of course everyone knew who he was – he was sure of it, and in fact he was quite confident that he could hear whispers as he passed. Words like ‘genius’, ‘eccentric’, and ‘handsome’ reached his ears, and he couldn’t imagine they could mean anyone else but him. God, he was handsome. Sighing absently, he gave the last room a bored look and put his cigarette out in what he thought was an ashtray but might, upon closer examination, have been a priceless sculpture. It was time for him to return to his own portion of the show, to have another tiresome conversation with more tiresome people about his own tiresome art.
  4. Yay! I'm so excited, thank you for running this . And yes, Milo=me!
  5. *hugs GeldrinHor* Fozz says hi too! Thanks again for the warm welcomes and kind advice. This really is a lovely community!
  6. Milo's art could be described as minimalist. Very minimalist. To date, he has sold 30 blank canvases to some of the wealthiest collectors in the world. He claims they are buying, not merely the physical painting, but the dialogue that accompanies each unique piece. Each work is the beginning of its own conversation, one that starts with 'why' and, one day, will end with the answers to everything in the universe. Such is the power of his art, or at least that is what Milo would like to think. Milo is tall and slim, with quick, articulate fingers and an animated mouth. His most defining feature, however, is his thick eyebrows that frame heavily lined eyes. He appears to be in his late twenties in spite of his attempts to look younger; the black eyeliner and nail polish aren't quite enough to make up for the streaks of premature gray in his hair or the rough stubble that appears on his face by early afternoon, nevermind that he shaves with a razor every morning. ***I will be out of town and unable to post from May 17 to May 20. If this prevents me from playing I will gladly catch the next one. Edit again: I am home and looking forward to playing!
  7. *laughs* I had a 'these guys expect me to post my -work-?' moment there...I'm sure I'll get over my newbie jitters shortly, but I'd like to ease in, check out the tutorials and projects y'all have going, and get a feel for things. I'm really happy to be here though - I've been kicking around the idea of signing up for a long time now but always chickened out. There's really some amazing talent here! If anyone has advice on how to get started I'd be glad to hear it. Yui-chan, the first thing I thought of was World of Warcrack but I do believe that reference goes back even further to pen and paper, no? *wonders if Tzimm is watching* *shifty eyes* *slips Minta a blueberry flavored pixie stick* Man, I missed gnomish innovation . *genuflects in return* Thanks for the welcome!
  8. Thank you for the warm welcome. It is a pleasure to meet you both.
  9. ~waves to the dancing druid, the neato necro gnomie girl, the mighty dwarf~ Greetings! I’m Verileah, and I enjoy gaming, writing (particularly RPing these days), and arting (mostly my characters, vain voices in my head that they are). You have an absolutely charming community here and I look forward to participating. I hope introduction posts are appropriate here, I was shy of just jumping in without saying hello first .
