  1. The Musicevangelist watches as Thomas leaves the stage and then passes a disc of music to the stage hand. The opening bars of a familiar rock song blast out over the audience.

    "Thunder!"

    The stage lights pulse yellow and blue with each successive chord.

    "Thunder!"

    Smoke fills the stage area, silhouetting a man, cassock swirling as the wind machine kicks in.

    "Thunder!"

    With each pulse of light and sound more of the man comes into focus.

    "You've been thunderstruck!"

    The music reaches a crescendo and cuts off abruptly, leaving our Priest in full view. He is dressed in a cassock very similar to the one he usually wears, this time however he has chosen a different colour. A deep crimson cassock falls over a black morning suit. The embossed musical staves shimmer in the stage lights, gleaming. The more musical in the audience can pick out the melodies and harmonies written upon the cloak. Melodies of glory, of victory and triumph, they uplift the soul and stir the sentiment.

    The Sorceror of Symphony surveys the seething mass that is the crowd.

    "Good evening!" He cries. "May it please the judges, here is my formal wear."

    The Hero of Harmony uses no microphone, his voice powerful enough to not need one.

    "Thank you all for this opportunity."

    The music starts up again and the Evangelist leaves the stage to rapturous applause.

  2. With the nonchalant stroll of the very confident, the Musicevangelist ascends to the stage. His cassock of black flows behind him and in the stage lights the audience can see the embossed staves and notes glisten. The Priest of Music starts his introduction with a voice melodious and rich.

    "Greetings one and all. To the judges especially, good day."

    The sheer depth and musicality of the voice surrounds the watching crowd and entices them, making them want to listen more.

    "I am the Musicevangelist, some of you already know me and others do not. Music flows in my veins and influences all I do. Rhythm and melody are my constant companions."

    The Mage of Melody looks at each one of the judges in turn, gracing each with a smile.

    "There is more to me than meets the eye as I will demonstrate throughout the rest of the competition, although I do like to leave some things as mysteries."

    The Host of Harmony steps back from the microphone and acknowledges the crowd and the judges in turn, making each person feel they are the only one being spoken to. He the turns and leaves the stage, the same confident, rythmic carriage as before.

  3. Music Evangelist came about from my large music collection and the fact that I like talking about music. I am known amongst my friends as someone who is likely to have any music they want to listen to, so they borrow from me all the time. One friend said "You almost evangelise music" and thus the name was born.

    Other names I have used in the past are Godfather, Calis Python and various Tolkien names.

    Godfather comes from an indoor cricket team known as The Trippin' Gangsters. We all took gangster sounding names and I was the coach and captain so chose Godfather. This has become my nick of choice now and my login on many boards.

    Calis Python was a roleplaying name. I played Rolemaster. The name has two origins really. The first and most obvious is the character Calis in Raymond E Feist's Magician series. In Rolemaster there was a sword called the sword of Kalis Python, so I thieved it and changed the spelling. I also like the possible Monty Python connection.

  4. Striding through the portal with strains of beautiful ethereal music following him comes a man in a tailored suit. The suit, made from a silky black material, is embossed and embroidered with all manner of musical notes and instruments. A bell chimes on his left lapel while from the right comes cascading washes of semiquavers. In his hand a vial, an elixir, the purest distillation of music known to man or beast. He quaffs the vial in one fell swoop and saunters to the table, confidence oozing from every pore.

    "I will enter your contest Cheer Mynx!" The voice, melodic and enticing, with a power audible to all. "Where do I sign?"

    "Er...on the paper which says sign here."

    "I knew that!"

    The evangelist signs the form with a flourish, adding a little tune to his autograph. "To my dearest fans."

  5. Writing his life away,

    A sacrifice of sanity

    Buried by prose

    Enveloped by words

    A challenge of time

    A question of faith

    Reaching the end

    Is his only goal

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Words can't speak through the pain
    An outward expression of what you meant
    Nothing can ease the loss
    A empty hole where you should be
    I loved you my whole life through
    To continue I cannot imagine
    Without you in this life
    You will by missed
    New Line: I cannot stop this train of thought falling into infinity
    (This is for the Dreamtheater fans, see if you can fit all the album titles into a poem:))
  6. My body fights against the bonds of sleep
    Willing me to stay awake
    My mind rebels against rest
    Pushing me to exhaustion
    Disappear into narcolepsy
    Insomnia fueled illusions
    Sonambulance must overwhelm
    Or proper functioning will desert me
    Any and all feedback welcome
    edit:Have changes line as per suggestion, was not really happy with that line to begin with and was quite glad to get feedback confirming what I though
  7. Scared of dying unloved, a lonely old man, or worse a lonely young man.
    Or on a more simple thought, heights. I have a sometimes overwhelming fear of heights.
    To stick with the stipulation of the fear thought most about then it would definately be the first one.
  8. "This potion you call covert death has inspired some creativity in me. I must put this to paper"
    From the voluminous folds of his cassock The Music Evangelist pulls out a sheet of manuscript paper and a fountain pen and begins to write:
    The thoughts and deeds of yesterday echo in my head
    Rebounding against each other creating more
    The voices of the past haunting my every move
    Destroying all hope within me
    Disturbing memories of days long passed
    The sins and curses of my younger days
    To forget them a pleasure long sought
    Elements of hope twinkle then fade
    "That is a strong potion sir. I now must sit again to regain my balance.'
    Gently sweeping his robes beneath him, The Evangelist sits again and waits for the Recruiter.
  9. A young man moves silently up to Wyvern’s office door. He is dressed primarily in black, wearing what looks like a cassock. On closer inspection the cassock reveals its patterns of musical staves and notes replete with time signatures. One could almost play the score written into this man’s clothing. The distinctive white earplugs of an iPod can be seen in his ears. The faint strains of his music waft through the air. This man is the Music Evangelist, Earth’s foremost expert on and purveyor of fine music.
    The Evangelist knocks on the wood of the door and waits patiently. The door pushes in at the touch of his hand. He peers into the office, glancing around and sees piles of paper everywhere along with another applicant. The man waiting inside appears to be a chemist as there are masses of strange vials with oddly coloured liquids in them. Music Evangelist calmly introduces himself and determines the strangers name to be epinephrine, a name which sounds vaguely familiar from Music’s school classes over a decade ago.
    “What does that name mean?” he enquires.
    “Adrenaline” is the response.
    “Ah yes, now I remember. I know a song called Adrenaline by Rosetta Stone and there is also a band called Audio Adrenal…sorry I have a habit of rambling about music. Didn’t mean to bore you. Are you here to apply for a position as well?”
    “Yes, I have been waiting for a while.”
    “That doesn’t bother me; I have got nothing else to do at the moment. What is with the chemistry set?”
    “I am an alchemist, a brewer of fine potions and elixirs.”
    “Sounds like fun!”
    Our musical priest walks to the desk and places his application form in the overflowing in tray.
    “Pretty popular this place?”
    “Seems to be, have a seat and wait with me,” replies Epinephrine.
    “I think I will. Have I told you my story? No? Then I shall. I am a young man who takes comfort in music, I allow myself to get lost in the myriad wonders it shows. I am always on the lookout for new musical experiences to expand my horizons and give better advice. I am employed by the wealthy to aid them in crafting the perfect music collection, carefully moulding it into an object of beauty. The artistry of collecting is as important as the artistry of the music itself.”
    He pauses for the moment and takes a drink from a pewter hip flask that almost magically appears from under the cassock. As he sips the sound of ethereal music fills the air, instilling everyone who hears it with joy and wonder.
    “That, my friend, is the music of the Gods. In addition to my worldly role, I must save the souls of people through the divinity of music, thus the Evangelist part of my name. I hail originally from a small town in the North Island of New Zealand. Gradually as time progressed, our small town was swallowed up by the larger town of Auckland. I have spent my entire life living here, only venturing out to create national and international music buzz.”
    Music Evangelist sits down next to Epinephrine and decides to wait for Wyvern to return.
    OOC: I have trouble writing longer passages. I mainly write poetry. I thought I would try this and hope to be accepted. Any and all criticism of style is welcome and needed. PM me first and let me know what you think.
  10. Rammstein - Reise, Reise
    Seems to be darker and more interesting than their previous works. Good amusing single in Amerika (the video is particularly amusing) and plenty of pumping rhythms. Reise, Reise is written primarily in minor keys with almost nothing major thus creating the aforementioned darkness to the music. Mein Teil is another single from the album, relating the the German guy who derived sexual pleasure from cannibalism. Other songs on the album worth a listen are Los; very acoustically based, sounds like the song Rammstein from the first album; Moskau, very cool thumpy industrial metal song, could be played in a club; Dalai Lama has a fantastic eerie chorus with chanting over the top.
    Marilyn Manson - Lest We Forget
    Manson's greatest hits album. Aside from all the controversy surrounding MM, this proves that he was a great singles artist. Most of his iconic singles from the past are here. There are some more album tracks that I would like to have seen here, but can live without them. The collection comes with a bonus dvd with videos to most of the songs on the album but is missing the (s)Aint video as it was deemed innappropriate. This album contains 3 cover songs: Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode), Tainted Love (Soft Cell, Living End, Gloria Jones) and Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics). Most sound exactly as you would expect them to, although TL does differ a bit from the more disco feel.
    Will review other music on here later in the week. I don't want evryone to feel that all I listen to is goth/industrail/metal as I am more than that. These albums have been recet purchases so are high in the playlist.
  11. I just want to be inspired
    Feeling the words flow
    I want the flash of light
    To know what is mine
    To be what I can be
    Live up to my potential
    To crack the glass ceiling
    Imposed by a timid self
    To excel in my chosen field
    A dream worth striving for
    I must accomplish something
    So this life is not a waste
    New first line:
    Adorable fever burns your brain
  12. Let loose the river torrent
    Emotions all aflood
    Cascading waterfalls of doubt
    To the ocean of delusion
    Rescue me, pull me up
    To the ship of truth
    Sail away with haste
    From the land of misery
    The wind of hope
    Drives us forward
    Challenging us to overcome
    The tyranny of despair
    I tried to make this more hopeful and uplifting than some of my poems in the past (not posted here).
    New line borrowed partl;y from Whitesnake:
    Hanging on the promises of yesterday
  13. Wow look at all the neon! I am also new here: The evangelist of music, the purveyor of tunes, the salesman of swing, the master of metal, the retailer of rock, the godfather of goth, the buyer of blues. If it is the sweet music of the night you wish then see me. (Most of it goes well with some of the alchemists more "interesting" potions)
