I stare upon the smiley face

two beady eyes

awful wry grin

This little piece of paper here

so crisp, so dry

tells me I'll fly

Will I lick this stamp?

Will I post this letter?

I guess I will

I have had some better

This one tastes quite damp

All becoming suddenly clear

I'll not just fly

I'll taste the sky

I stare upon the smiley face

it's message clear to me

praised be the escapes

I get from Alice Dee

A hypochondriac now

Walking through the streets at night

A sufferer then

Staggering through the day

A mask of lies

Blended tightly with the truthful face

A score of honesty

Hidden forever beneath the pain

Looks at Mynx... You beat me to it, I got to write for your one now...

:raven:

A hypochondriac now, walking through the streets at night

Ever mellowed in the fumes of the celebrated end

Of the dreary day of toil, meandering to the evening

Painted mannequins walking around, displaying attitudes

Of knowledge beyond years.

Feeling the ache of tired stress, seeping into the core

Of each fibre and flexing bone, supporting ridged muscle

I feel corrupted, corroded with decay, yet only in my mind

Is the ailment alive, only a symptom of the path,

The folly of advancing years.

Against the tide I tried to swim

It tossed me around at its whim

Sinking then to soon begin

Sinking then to soon begin

I fled the land at a whim

And in the tide chose to swim

So in the tide I try and swim

I laughed at my reckless whim

Let the beating of the rocks begin

As on the rocks I did begin

Tide taking me back on a whim

But I will not go, and so I swim.

"Read the post above for a line"

Or will I just use this one?

I never was one to settle.

Will I use the other this time?

But I have just begun

trying to get this one to show its mettle.

The other'd probably do fine,

but this for now has won,

and for this I will now settle.

Endlessly the trails entwine,

weaving paths of wit and rhyme.

The lines of coal and metal

influenced by beer and wine.

Now I think for me it's time

to get out of this nettle;

this nettle of worldplay entwined

in a scheme so rigged with rhyme.

So for this I'll settle.

"I'm at the line (I'm never crossing that line)"

I'm facing the unknown, Mom told me to not to.

Shall I go exploring ? Mom told me to not to.

But what if I go past that line ?

I know I didn't adjure,

But Mom'll blame me, for sure.

She'll make another line,

And she won't be happy.

Maybe if I ask her, She could make a new line.

A long and far line, then I'd explore till nine,

And discover new things, untill I catch the line...

But then I'll ask again, and it would be all fine !

What can I do right now?

That will teach me.

What can I do right now?

That will sustain me.

I've been sitting here too long

Wondering, what I'm supposed to be...

So what can I do right?

That will remake me

Nice one rev, though I'm a bit too hungover to go into God's grace right now, you might see it appended here tomorrow or so, but here comes the other:

I know, you know

I know

what you've been up to

/

I know, you know

I know

what you know

and

I know, you know

that this is when it ends

now

I know, you know

I love you with my all

but I know, you know

that you will let me fall

/

You think, I know

I want naught but lose you

You think, I know

I no longer care

You think, I know

we are naught but through

You think, I think

"How much can I bear?"

but

I know, I know

I don't want to lose you

I know, I know

I don't want you there

I know, I know

I want you here

with me

I know,

I think

Alrighty, thinking of the next line, the hardest bit :P

How about:

That old mentality, of "We can take it all"

hmmm... or how about

Tomatoes and eggs aren't fit to throw now

don't know where those came from

We can take it all

and turn it all around.

We can show them

we're not afraid.

We're more

than they think we are.

We're everything

we never thought we were.

We can stand up

for ourselves.

We can fight

for a life worth living.

We're the strong,

the brave, the proud.

We're what's left

of everything that was.

We can stand united,

fighting for truth and justice,

Or,

We can fall, divided,

wrecked remnants of

something once great,

degenrated into something

now contempous and degrading,

conquered by the bright

and glorious future.

We can.

A world of possibilites,

An ocean of choices.

Place your hand in mine,

And choose with me.

A leopard-spotted chicken with tiger-striped wings?

Flutter through the pages to see, pause, look, confusion begins.

Seen many things through the camera lens,

Glimpses of insanity, and beauty enough to cause it,

Kissed the breath of angels as they posed for me.

I have see show cats, and dogs of many breeds,

The animals of paraded shows, and pageants of beauty queens,

Walked with models along the stage, seen each strut and pose,

But never such a fowl thing has been, as a designer poultry show.

Feathers and tufts, and strutting and fuss,

Things that appear so strange

Every look from duster to pen,

Is the design that these feathered beasts took.

Arrogant parading of genetic selections, of inbreeding,

Rebreeding, and breeding by choice,

Pedigree Chickens, not peacocks, proclaim

That even a pheasant is quite plain.

But honestly, the monstrosity,

What was the breeder contemplating?

I scarce can believe, these feathers all sparkling,

Why a leopard-spotted chicken with tiger-striped wings?

:raven:

ooc: this was inspired by an artical on show fowl... yes there is such a thing.

Raging rivers drain the sea,

flood the land with iniquity.

Glaciers flow into the sky,

causing to think the start is nigh.

Oceans pull down blackened stormclouds

Tiny droplets, forming hazy shrouds.

A numbed mind awakens, as it does find

the proper button, next to "Rewind"

Watery graves, far away from shores;

The Patriot praises, the sailor deplores.

The Widow hides letters in secret dresser drawers,

And curses her heart; another casuality of the war's.

She makes her way dockside, past the rigging and oars.

She stands on the planks where her lover's ship moors,

And to that desolate and empty sea she scurrilously implores,

"Give back to me the dead!" but the ocean only roars.

  • 2 weeks later...

Endlessly the trails entwine, weaving paths of wit and rhyme

across the flesh of notebook page in drafts of signs to go on stage.

The body of my writing lies within these pages. Heartfelt cries

of rage and pain, then giddy glee will surface next an aching plea.

Idly on the surface trace a notice, seeming out of place

upon this mass of word-wrapped heart where public speaking has no part.

Tattoos of cautions all may see now camouflage the depths of me.

I love that last line Ayshela ^_^

and a warning: another reference-fest coming up, you asked for it though ;)

In the land of Shinar, lies the city of Ur

where Sin once lit his home

and father found his way.

Modern man was led astray

there by the prophet's tome

from Sippar to Nippur.

Now nothing's left

but ruins stand

and Sin still proudly shines

His faith bereft

he lights the sand

that does encase his shrines

Subtle halos

gold and red

encase his shrines today.

it is said

his temple stands

for it was built that way.

Father will not tear it down

nor will granddad engulf

that which is now crumbling

but on his work a crown.

You should come to see this work

if you're ever near this town.

Leaving my other last line for anyone who would take it up as a secondary ^_^

-------------

A line of grey, a line of storms

Mackerel clouds in countless forms

Float across the sky this night

While flashes set the sky alight

Column of smoke, column of fire

Burning now to raise my ire

I won't fulfill my desire

Escape this mental quagmire

Won't flee now into sleep

The flickering will keep

reflecting in my eyes

As line and column rise

To meet

voices spiral and take flight

mutual inner happiness

vanish like music in the night

carolling around the tree

celebrating hope's rebirth

celebrating all of earth

Snow melts before my eyes,

A series of perfect lullabies.

A new world fast apppearing,

Quick as the snow is disappearing.

Green ground revealed once again;

Through the months of cold it's been

Hibernating, hiding underneath.

And now at last its legacy does bequeath.

A new world in the bright white morn,

A new heaven in which to be reborn.

Picking up on that unused line of mine I said I'd leave for any takers to take up, as it was haunting my head while in the shower just now.

Waves of anguish, drugged relief

"Don't leave now", I told the thief

Take my sorrow, hide my grief

Shedding memories as tree sheds leaf.

As oaken giants eventually bald,

is how I would prefer grow old

Leave my stories yet untold

Watch how my new life unfolds.

As for messiahs and gods, my current mindset doesn't quite reach that, so anyone who does: take it ^_^

An email messiah and an internet god

They're after our money, more often than not

International stocks, and unlimited wealth

Pills everyone needs to keep up their health

or enlarged private parts

Oh no, they're not done yet

That's just where it starts

When we don't remember poor Richard or Kate

Our saviour will help us, no minute too late

(S)he'll probably even ask you out on a date

But before you jump in and try to relate

I implore you, find out what meat's on your plate

For all too many times, we think we're dealing with ham

When all it really is, is just trash from a can

Ignorance flaring in blue, green and red.

A summer evening's fireworks of bliss.

How could I be so blind?

Not to see the reality right in front of me.

I was too busy staring at the colors behind my eyes.

A symphony of ignorance, projected on my eyelids.

Knowledge shouting, screaming to be heard.

I was deaf, my ears flooded with sweet seduction.

A distinct absence of truth's white, on this canvas in the dark

Behind my eyes.

Too distracted to care. Submerged in blissful ignorance,

An explosion of ecstasy, drowning in ignorance,

Ignoring knowledge's grasping hand.

Eyes shut tight, watching bliss flaring in blue, green and red.

You ought to give it a try some time.

It's fantastic.

Without that dischord of knowledge.

A cacophony of truth

Drowns out all the lies

Forces me to look

And fin'ly realise

An orchestra of fact

Plays to my very soul

Forces me to listen

Yes, it's time to go

A stampeding of outrage

Clings to me at the door

But I force it to look, and see

It will accept the score

Don't stop what you're not doing,

Shuffle your feet a little, and dance,

Perchance extract the beauty of life,

Maybe the charm of escaping skies.

Don't stop what you're not doing,

This is not an end as yet, you see,

Flavor untasted exists in this path,

Maybe the sweet honey of destiny.

Don't stop what you're not doing,

Breath, take a short rest, wait,

See the end coming, time to pursue,

Find your wings in the deeper blue.

Stop, jump, dreams exist to chase,

Follow the turbulent trail, blue sky,

Awaits the embrace of your heart,

Stop, time calls the tune, come, now.

Disjointed yet eerily familiar

I stand in an empty room

The dust of ages hangs in the air

And still it feels like home

Displaced yet strangely comforted

I move to the only chair

An ancient throne for long dead royals

I take it as mine, resting there

Despondent yet oddly hopeful

I place chin upon my hand

And wait for something I know will happen

...I just wish I knew what it was
